Cargo Boys will always be cargo boys

Joseph S. Karl

What’s constitutes a free man to change his will unless his mindset is still tangled to the past and is still locked to what was like 50 years ago when his ancestors were bare foot, bare chest and were the slave labourers who did all the work in bringing up the economy of the territories that were once German New Guinea and British Papua. Even in this modern age when technology has outwitted and levelled the way people think and do business, some of our folks mostly highlanders are still living in the past and a still sleeping and unless they have a awakening and wake up and start looking to themselves as leaders they then can change the direction of history otherwise my topic about this piece says it, Cargo boys will always be cargo boys and to the Highlands MPs be good slave labourers while you are at it, because you cant think for yourself, you are so worried about what you will only eat tonight.

With the looming VONC (Vote of No Confidence) coming next week or later this year, In my opinion I don’t think we will see a strong push by the Highlanders to have someone put up as PM material because the mentality they have is that they have no loyalty to Party lines or the National Goals, a few of them do but the majority have loyalty to another thing called a fat wallet, they have loyalty to get rich quick schemes where they cleave off money from the big parties to make up the numbers.
I totally understand why National Alliance wants to remain in power to see thru that all their kickbacks in Madang as well as the LNG and other new prospects come in without being tampered with thats why Arthur is there as the money man.

Polye is someone people are placing their hope on when the Somare makes his decision, but with the way things are going at the moment, isn’t is bloody obvious that he does not trust any of you Highlanders? Can’t you get it? You’ve been with him long enough, 8 bloody years and yet he’s telling you sorry guys, you are still my cargo boys, I will pay you whenever I need you to do this and that for me, just sit here, stand there, you are yo-yos, you are all spineless, on the other hand, Arthur Somare has all the power, yeap, Did you really think Lapun was going to give the all powerful Finance portfolio to you guys, I keep reading the papers in the weeks after Pruaitch was suspended that the post should rightfully go to Benjamin Poponawa (Tambul MP) who happens to be a financial expert, made his way up the ladder in the Auditor General’s office and is a qualified Accountant as well as a NA stalwart, but I am sorry, when you are considered a number or just a figure your voice is not heard.

Here is someone who has hijacked the Environment Bill, used dictatorial authorities to vote in the new GG, increased Ministers to hold on to power, kept a blind eye on his own Ministers who were implicated in a robbery of millions and just last week bribed a landowner in Madang to drop legal proceeding against a company he has loves MCC. My problem is with all the MPs who keep their mouth shut when things are happening in front of your nose. You represent a Electorate in this country for God’s Sake, Do something to change this evil that’s crippling our livelihood. Stop the Stealing and Rot in Waigani.

  1. Joseph karl appears to be a Highlander and is thinking like a Highlander and speaking thru his arse. Get real buddy! 1975 we attained Independence, thanks to Somare, but thats now by and by. In case you were born after 1975, let me tell you some of us were there when the red black and gold were unfurled for the first time. Not a dry eye around. That was our country and that was our land, a land of a thousand tribes and a thousand tongues. So buddy get your foot out of your mouth and speak like a true son of Papua New Guinea, this great land made up of all of us, Highlanders, Coastals and Islanders, or shut up and take your whinging to you kut manga ( toilet).

  2. Give PM post to Sir Puka

Don Polye, time has come for you to become power-broker for a new government; not for you to vie for PM; give it to Sir Puka Temu.
The best option available to Mr Polye now is to offer the prime minister’s seat to Sir Puka Temu, Deputy Prime Minister to William Duma, the Finance to Sir Mekere Morauta, Treasury to Bart Philemon, IPBC & State Enterprises to Ken Fairweather, National Planning to Michael Ogio, Speaker to Jeffery Nape, Attorney General and Justice to Luther Wenge, Agriculture to Andrew Kumbakor, retain Works and Civil Aviation, leave Education and Hela with James Marape, give Jiwaka and Housing to Jamie Graham, Forests to Mal Smith Kela, and both Police and Defence with Dr Allan Marat.
Allocation of other non-economic ministries should be done at your own discretion in line with demands from different parties in the new coalition. This line up would be trusted by PNG people, very credible, and you bet it will go past 2012 easily.
You need the coastal MPs to change this government.
The Highlands MPs are fluid, money-faced, and chronically jealous as according to Paias Wingti’s strategy of government formation.
Don Polye cannot be the choice for PM now (maybe after 2012) because the balance of power in this new coalition would tilt towards coastal MPs.
Only when delivering a PM from the coast, will Mr Polye wield significant power and influence in the running of the new government.
Opportunities come once, so Polye must not back down because Peter O’Neil and Anderson Agiru are supporting Arthur Somare – both have always been cowards in government formation for some time now. Over to you, Polye-Puka-Duma team.
