DO THE RIGHT THING

PAUL REINBARA

The recent Supreme Court Ruling on the reappointment of Sir Paulias Matane on Friday leaves a lot to be asked about this current government’s direction. There were a lot of questions asked when this matter was brought before parliament and if the parliamentary process to elect a new GG was stretched to its limits before Matane was drawn as the appointee. Between the two groups in Parliament we now see no debate at all, there is less time spent in addressing issues affecting the country, the game of cat and mouse and the cunning ability by the government to use its power in numbers with the usual puppet the Speaker have their ways before anything is even argued and a proper debate is held.

Papua New Guinea needs to know the process we know called democracy and what it means in the Parliament, to me it sounds more to demonstrate craziness. Right now we have a bunch of monkeys in a zoo the so called House Tambaran fighting over bananas. We are fed with lies by cohorts such as Simon Kaiwi who mind you is not an elected official and yet has the cohunes to tell Papua New Guineans how it is. We are fed with garbage such “for the best interest of Papua New Guinea”, question, what is the best interest of Papua New Guinea? And who runs this country? Shouldn’t we have an open government that allows for criticism and challenge instead of a government shadowy and unwittingly run by outside influences.

We have Politicians who are criminals in suits loafing the corridors of power, we have this year and last year heard about the alleged criminal mastermind William Kapris being a subject of Francis Marus, Patrick Pruaitch and Tony Aimo, now these are MPs from the region where our Prime Minister hails from, a lot of questions asked to the Prime Minister about these MPs were brushed aside, and we now know he has been protecting his MPs vigorously and attacking the media for failing to be fair on them. Why should we be fair on them when these MPs were fed and profited from the exploits of William Kapris, they should not be treated with dignity, they should be shamed and named with every Tom, Dick and Harry.

Every action has a reaction Mr. Prime Minister, you have failed to uphold the Constitution of this country you profess as founded by you and agreed upon by many, from the outside looking in you do not have the Midas touch, your decisions are weak, your time has probably lapsed and you do not see the future, our other forefathers who also gave their life to for this great country like Sir John Guise, Sir Iambakey Okuk, Sir Paul Lapun and Sir Tei Abel would turn their backs on their grave to see where you have taken this nation into. It is as wasted as a good opportunity was, we are at the mercy of giant conglomerates and the opportunity to turn this country around is fast fading.

It is a very simple game of divide and rule to you but the effect on the 7 million people of this country will last generations, this has taken us nowhere, if nothing is done soon enough the voices of the small people will rise up, one lone nut and the 108 currently in this house of Parliament will not do anything to stop a revolution. With all these decisions against you sir, it is for the best interest to step aside and leave the country to young capable leaders who can take this nation forward. You have done your bit, now take a rest and leave the leadership with dignity as the more you carry on it spells unrighteous and totalitarian the way I see it.
