HARD TIMES AHEAD?

a/PM and former GG, Nationalpic by Evah.Kuamin
Today the National is reporting that acting Prime Minister Sam Abal and a couple of ministers flew out to Kokopo yesterday to see Sir Paulias Matane on behalf of the side-lined Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare. As reported Sir Arnold Amet who appears to be the spokesman of the group said they were there to “pay respects to the former GG”.

After being the point man for the National Alliance party in legal matters Sir Arnold has turned himself into a laughing stock and has taken the acting Prime Minister with him on this joyride. This trip could pose a number of possible or likely options the Government under the leadership of Mr Abal are trying to commandeer on, pending the leadership referral brought to their leader Sir Michael.

The likelihood of Sir Matane contesting the GG post is now a possibility as this was seen to be the work of Sir Michael to telling him (Sir Matane) that we are still on this and he should not give up the hope of running again for the Vice Regal post. Defeat seems like a hard thing now knowing the advantage of the numbers National Alliance have with the steady support of its pet parties like URP, Pangu and the rest.

So now they get to try will again but this time without the Sinasina Yongomul MP as acting GG or even Speaker, rifts are still seen, as a highlander Polye was brought to his lowest and weakest when he was dumped as the nation’s deputy, while he could be a binding factor for some MPs in the NA’s Highlands dugout, they are no longer a treat, just hot with words and some say he (Polye) dug his own grave.

What will be the lasting legacy that will have this nation talking in 20 years from now of this current government which has enjoyed a steady but tweaked hold on power and is soon to head into the third national elections as the major party with a heavy pocket. It’s all the same, the big wigs fighting for power and immortality at the top while the bottom suffer and die.
