What have you got to hide? Nama

THE PAPUA NEW GUINEA DEFENCE FORCE has been asked to help conduct arrests, following an investigation into the misuse of public funds in East Sepik province.

A plane carrying investigators with a government-appointed Investigation Task Force Sweep Team were prevented from disembarking and told to return to Port Moresby on Wednesday.

They were sent to investigate allegations of misuse of public funds under the court-reinstated Prime Minister, Sir Michael Somare, and the East Sepik provincial governments, and East Sepik Governor, Peter Wararu.

Some residents and political supporters have converged at the Wewak airport and told the Air Niugini management to return the investigators and police back to Port Moresby.

They claim it was politically motivated when their MP Sir Michael was ousted, and the matter is before the courts again.

PNG's Deputy Prime Minister, Belden Namah, has called them acts of terrorism.

“I condemn the actions of holding up of the national airlines service to Wewak in stopping the uniformed policemen and members of the Task Force Sweep to go and investigate,” Mr Namash said.

“This is an act of criminality and Governor Wararu should be arrested for this kind of form of activity.

“I've instructed the commander of the defence force to also inform the commanding officer of the Second Battalion [based in Wewak] to assist the police force at all cost to deal with these criminal elements,” he said.

“They have to be dealt with. They're supposed to respect the laws of this country and allow investigators to go. You have got to have them so the defence at Moem Barracks on stand by to assist police if there needs to be a call out to deal with those rogue elements in Wewak.”

Sir Michael Somare says neither his government nor the East Sepik provincial administration had misused public funds to warrant such an investigation.

He says the presence of armed policemen and investigators provoked his people to do what they did.

“People of East Sepik found out that the police were coming in, so it was the mob at the airport that threatened the airport authorities and told 'take your damn aircraft and get out of here' and that's what they did exactly. And 'take your policemen with your fully-armed police rifles',” Sir Michael said.

Mr Namah says Sir Michael and East Sepik leaders should allow the investigations if they have nothing to hide.

“Now tell me, what have you got to hide? This is an act of someone who is desperate to hide his roles. You cannot continue to act, you will never hide, eventually the truth will come out.”

  1. Is Namah Police Minister? Or has he taken over from Kulinga? Namah is destroying himself! What goes around comes around. Namah called Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare a street kid. Now look who is acting as one?

  2. You must have benefited from the sepik highway trust fund .

  3. Namah is a crook. Just look at what is now coming out of forestry! Highway Trust abuse was exposed by PAC. It does not require a bus load of paid and directed police. All it needs is few committed police personnel to follow through. True Sepiks would want justice and not vengeance for political interest of political weaklings without principles in O'Neill regime. If you are supporting them you are in a sinking boat with a terrestrially inclined captain of questionable legitimacy!

  4. Somare is a even bigger crook, than Namah. Nothing anyone or somare says will change the fact that somare is the biggest crook PNG has ever had in its history. The explanations by Namah over his actions are justified, its all done to reveal all of somares crookled deals. The country deserves to know, so stop camouflaging the issue by laying blame on Namah.

  5. What a load of rubbish! If Namah your demigod has evidence he should present it. Your are very jealous of Somares. Good thinking Sepiks would not accept hotair so challenge is on you and other Namah demigod supporters to produce the goods in accordance with law.

  6. I totally agree with you. Belden Namah is the real culprit, well the whole bunch of this so-called current O‘Neill-Namah government. If they cannot submit to the supreme court‘s order which is the highest standing order, That is dicratorship! I for one do not want to be ruled by dictators who think they‘re above. I‘m a non-Sepik and have never been a great fan of Sir Somare. But from the past events it has dawn to me who the real crook is. I applaud the actions of the Sepiks who prevented the swip team from entering Wewak last week. Stand your grounds, do not be moved by this dictators nor submit to their orders “ol pikini man upela tu pikini man ya!“. Belden labelled this as an act of terrorism but let us look at the onset who the real terrorist is, one who submit to the court order or one who defies the court order? The answer is obvious. So Sepiks, if they neglect the law by all means neglest their orders! Who are they defy the highest court order..

    1. Very true. Preach it brother/sister! They have decieved us with free education scheme trying to gain people‘s favour and mind you, they‘ve done it well. If I go against this O‘Neill-Namah government people would say “shut-up!“. These are the fruits of their deception. What Namah and O‘Neill has done is just plain political interest. Its obvious seeing election is not far off so the strategist (Belden Namah) came up with the idea of implementing free education and health services aiming to gain people‘s favor which like I said, has tremendously done well. So if anyone one wants to go againts them (eg. court order) the only excuse they would give is “ we are doing this for the people“ knowing they have already bought Papua New Guinean‘s favor. So what the supreme court do? Majority rules. My goodness if only my fellow Papua New Guineans could see it from the birds eye view only then will they understand the deception and know who the real crook is.

  7. Now the grass roots know who the real crooks are. Call it bad timing but free education should have been introduced 5 years ago, too bad guys, Oneill/Namah have played their cards right and are winning their game head on.
