Passengers rewarded by robbers - Friday Funny Story Segment (New)

PASSENGERS on a public motor vehicle were ordered off by a group of thugs but after a while picked up again by the group who then shared their loot with them.

The bus was boarded at 7am by a group of six men at the Lae main market.
They calmly explained to the driver and passengers that they were taking over the bus for a job they had to do and asked for their cooperation.

The PMV driver was off-loaded with the passengers at a location.  At around 8.30am, the bus returned to where they were. The hijackers gave more than K200 to the driver and his crew to distribute to the passengers.

They also gave each passenger two packets of cigarette each to thank them for their cooperation.
They then told them to leave in the bus.

Lae metropolitan commander Supt Nema Mondiai was not available to confirm the incident.
But passengers said the thugs had robbed an Asian shop located at the new Wantok Haus complex.

Leannes bakery was also reportedly hit by another robbery in the afternoon of the same day. But it could not be confirmed who were involved or how much was stolen.

In another incident, police said a stolen white 15-seater vehicle used in a robbery was later abandoned by the robbers in front of the Lae central police station.

Police only noticed the vehicle next morning. Police thought it very funny but realised that the robbers were trying to make a fool of them.

“The current police operations need to be driven by intelligence, that is now the strategy the police hierarchy should use in order for our operations to be successful,” a senior police officer said.
He said the criminals were now more daring as in parking the vehicle in front of a police station.
