Breaking News - Supreme Court recognise Somare as PM

Supreme Court has recognised GC Somare as the legit PM. Peter O'Neill and his government has chosen to ignore the court decision and are recalling Parliament to a special sitting at 10am tomorrow!
The supreme court left it too late. Timing is just not right. The Supreme Court ruling is not being helpful in terms of time.
Nevertheless Parliament has been disolved and everyone is in election mode so let the people elect a new Government but we wait in haste to hear what will be done tomorrow when Parliament meets.
More updates as we recieve them tonight
UPDATE FROM FIRMIN NANOL (Radio Australia)
Somare government restored again tonight and O'Neill-Namah faction refusing to recognise the Supreme Court court ruling. Have recalled parliament for special session at 10 am tomorrow. Assured the nation elections will go ahead. Police told to investigate the Chief Justice Sir Salamo Injia and Justice Nicholas Kiriwom.
In a twist of events, two senior members of the bench said the integrity of the entire judiciary is tainted with perceptions of corruption and biased so they decided not to do anything with the decision. One Justice Bernard Sakora, disqualified himself and the other, Deputy Chief Justice Gibbas Salikoa abstained himself from making or taking part in the ruling. So the PM, Peter O'Neill says the judiciary is corrupt and worst form of judicial corruption.
His Deputy Belden Namah also told media, what the government has been saying all along is that the judiciary was biased and that the CJ Sir Salamo Injia was accused of mismanaging the judiciary is true. The CJ has threatened to charge government lawyer Tiffany Nongorr for contempt on court. We will see and hear what transpires in parliament tomorrow. The public service says they will recognise the O'Neill Namah government and are geared to run the elections to elect a new PM and Government.

  1. Parliament has risen. Election is underway. Parliament is not alive to be recalled. Caretaker Executive is only a transitional team. It has no lawful authority of leaders to recall Parliament when it has risen for elections. O'Neill and Namah must get Tiffany Twivey out of PNG fast. She will go to jail for all her bad legal advice to O'Neill and Namah. Well done Grand Chief Somare. Now you can step aside on a high note.

  2. People have the notion that any decisions made by the Chief Justice ( Sir Salamo Injia) including some Judges against the O'Neil and Namah faction is illegal. Okay! So lets get this straight, if the Judges supports the O'Neil Namah faction, people will say that the decision is legal aye...

  3. Congratulations Team Somare !!!
How on Earth, can O'Namah not acknowledge the SC's decision?
They had their legal eagles on full trottle, aiming to win this case, but unfortunately they have lost in this level playing field.
The People's court, and the Constitution have Spoken.
    Long Live Somare !

  4. Is Tiffany Twivey advising the power thieves in O'Namahs that section 19(2) of the Constitution makes the Supreme Court decisions of 12 December 2011 and 21 May 2012 legally binding on the Parliament that has risen and the Executive that is now a caretaker? O'Namahs abused the Supreme Court and it's process. It seems they went to town to delay their removal and disregard and disrespect Supreme Court. It was a devious calculated cunning move by the O'Namahs. Hey Papua New Guineans are not stupid, blind or deaf. They are intelligent, they see and hear. They are ready to talk at the ballot so O'Namahs should go home and tell their people that they stole power in their name for self gain and glory. How foolish is that O'Namahs!!!

  7. I, as a Proud Papua New Guinean, believes that this political crisis is distracting and an annoyance to the citizens of this rich nation. The O'Neill- Namah regime should be recognized as the true leaders of this nation, not Somare!!! For more than 30 years of independence, the Somare government has not done much to develop PNG.....The poor man should just step down and let a new leader into the Parliament!!!
