O’NEILL A LION WITHOUT TEETH

By Graham Tenaen Robinson

The 105 MPs gave O’Neill the benefit of the doubt in having dominion over the seat of the Prime Minister, however most importantly are the 7.5 million citizens in this country represented by their MPs in re-correcting a political incorrectness since 1975 with regards to the slaughter of West Papuans .

Always showing a calm and collective pose our O'Neill portrays maturity and experience, yet the moment of truth depicted an uncharacteristic of our PM just on the eve of the last parliament sitting when information was leaked through to his office about the Paul Paraka payment in which the Opposition Leader was aware of.

A dramatic report in the dailies captured the attention of this country through a defamation lawsuit by O’Neill against Namah for character smearing statements made in Morobe Province last month that was unsurprisingly given front-page exclusive on both dailies –The National and Post Courier.

Such the intensity in news items added a new vigour to the battle between both leaders that heightened during the past few months where Mr Namah continuously and mercilessly pounded the Prime Minister Peter O’Neill with his straight shooting remarks never missing its mark.

Mr Namah again made no mistake when he exposed in parliament last month, a staggering payment totalling K71.8 million that was paid to Paul Paraka Lawyers as legal fees created uproar amongst Papua New Guineans.  And whilst mainstream media refrained from exposing the rot, it was swept under the carpet.

Yet, Mr Namah continued this time presenting in parliament a sign letter to the Secretary for Finance to process payment to Paul Paraka Lawyers.

Again, the letter never got to the papers, as it looked a near embarrassment of the PM who later denied claims in signing the letter claiming that it was fraud with paid advertorials in the local newspapers in PNG.

And yet today, Peter O’Neill sets sights on Indonesia our nearest neighbour where border issues continue to flourish due to government neglect.

The meeting in Indonesia alone is certainly a milestone for both governments in terms of bilateral talks on the former including a very important subject that have our hearts and soul in one accord with our Melanesian brothers and sisters; WEST PAPUA NATIONAL COALITION FOR LIBERATION.

Today stands a historical occasion as our government is expected to support WEST PAPUA IN ITS CAUSE FOR INDEPENDENCE, or become cowards and let Indonesia continue its onslaught of our West Papuan brothers and sisters.

Yet, whilst our Pacific Island neighbours gather support for WEST PAPUA, big brother and nearest neighbour PNG sits comfortably concentrating in building its financial ties despite sharing one landmass, customs and tradition.

Today, PNG witnesses O’Neill become a lion without teeth avoiding correcting our political incorrectness in relation to the WEST PAPUA CAUSE.

Papua New Guinea must recognize that O’Neill will never set things right in Indonesia, but strengthen PNG's political alliance with Indonesia on the financial front, sadly overlooking its blood, history and culture amongst its fellow Melanesian brothers.

As O'Neill continues; “I will look into it," he continues to add flavour; "I will make sure I get to the bottom of this” however in the next few days he will sum it all up; ‘I will roar but cannot bite.’
