WE WILL RISE UP – MONDAY.

By  Mala Dinoneil

Comrades. We have talked enough. The time has indeed come for us to act. And act fast. If we delay another day, major and more shocking changes are expected to be announced by Peter O’Neill. Below is why we (the citizens) need to act.
  1. IPATAS, WINGTI, MARABE, MICAH, PARKOP: Where are the influential MPs of our time? Elected leaders no longer fear the dictates of their conscience. They do not seem to be guided by a deep sense of duty, decency, and ethics. Just consider these pot-bellies, shamelessly trying to defend Peter O’Neill. They do not give a damn if Peter O’Neill aggressively undermines the rule of law, and destroys the very institutions that hold us together. Peter Ipatas is supporting Peter O’Neill because the latter has committed millions into Engan treasury for a proposed Hospital and a Hydro project. WH’s Paias Wingti is supporting O’Neill because the PM injected millions for the reconstruction of the Kapal Haus. Since Parkop, Marabe and Micah and directly benefiting under O’Neill’s leadership, they will not speak against the evil they know exists. Where is Sir J. Chan? Is it because of the position PPP has taken or his son’s future…that he has decided not to speak? How about the NA family? Anyone left who can stand up for the country or has everyone “compromised”?

  1. 101 K10 Million Rural Development Fund MPs.  The 56 PNC members have pledged their allegiance to their corrupt leader but they have something in common. They are all political prostitutes who hop from one “man to another.” If O’Neill falls (which will happen), they will relinquish their party, and join the party that comes into power. But what about the “other political parties”? Its time NA shows that he has balls. Michael Somare has to walk out. NOW! Is there anybody left in the UPR? How about the THE Party? You “formed” this government, but if that government has not honoured her commitment, dismantle is and “form” another one. The citizens of this country already know how this story will end. But do you? If you (MPs) do not know yet, and Sir Julius Chan and Michael Somare of how they fell. They thought they were invincible. O’Neill’s desperate attempts will not save him. His days are numbered – and his fall will be witnessed by MSG leaders and the Japanese Prime Minister – and they will flee in terror!

  1. OMBUDSMEN COMMISSION. OC is a joke. Toothless giant. OC was still working on the UBS loan and another wave has just overtaken that sleeping giant. We remember the days when late Manek Chronox was the Chief OC. These days are different. Soon some of these officers’ terms will expire and they will exit that office, without accomplishing anything significant. STOP ISSUING THREATS. START ISSUING DIRECTIVES!

  1. POLICE. Only in PNG this can happen. From 3 years on the street to the Police Commissioner’s throne overnight. And in less than a week – firing the rank and file that threatens O’Neill. Somare did something similar, but that did not help. When the new government is sworn in NEXT FRIDAY (a week from now), Vaki will be kicked out – without even tasting his first salary! Can we trust him? Do the men and women in blue trust him? How long are we going to tolerate him and O’Neill play football with the Police institution? Are there any “Bravos”, and Charlies” left who can lock him up? With or without your help O”Neill and Vaki will fall, but the courage of a brave and patriotic cop will be remembered for a long time.

  1. JUSTICE/SUPREME COURT. We do respect the judiciary to execute justice in this issue. We do not know what the law book says, but the writing on the wall is very clear; even a child can read. IF JUSTICE IS NOT DELIVERED TODAY FOR WHATVER REASONS KNOWN ONLY TO THE PRESIDING JUDGES, THE CITIZENS OF THIS COUNTRY WILL ACT. DURING SOMARE’S DOWNFALL THE CHIEF DID ERRED, SO WE ARE AWARE THAT JUDGES DO ERR. SO WE ARE HOLDING OUR BREATH AND WATCHING WITH INTENSE INTEREST.

  1. PRIME MINISTER. The court order last week, and extended this week was for the ‘status quo’ to remain. But he has not honoured that order. He started mowing down anything that he was suspicious of. So should the police respect that initial court order? Or should they just have him arrested?
Comrades, before we present ourselves as united front, there are few Judas’ in the camp that needs to removed right now:
  1. BOBBY YUPI, UPNG SRC PRESIDENT. During the UBS loan saga, this student leader was ‘paid off’. Peter O’Neill did the same thing to Hosea Livingston (the former Unitech SRCPresident). Can a banker check this kid’s bank accounts and see if there is any “suspicious” amount of money deposited into his bank account around this time? He appears to have compromised himself and does not live up to the timeless integrity of that office. While the bankers check on that, the provincial student leaders of UPNG must meet and hold a referendum against Bobby Yupi and have him sidelined. Appoint his Vice or secretary (whoever is not compromised) to take over the leadership. Do that NOW!
  2. JOHN PASKA, TUC GENERAL-SECRETARY. Someone needs to find out Paska’s relationship with Ben Micah and Peter O’Neill. Paska’s public comments appear to be either winking at or condoning the O’Neill-Paragate issue. There is a possibility that he may have “compromised.” The country and rest of the TUC members need to know if what Paska is saying is the official position of TUC or his own. TUC EXECUTIVES MUST HOLD A MEETING AND TAKE A CLEAR POSITION. If Paska has been making public statement without the organization’s interests, he needs to be sidelined too. He cannot be a life-time Secretary General to this very important position, especially at a time when people like Peter O’Neill is the prime minister.
If Peter O’Neill (through Jeffery Vaki) uses the police to further suppress our democratic rights to meet and talk (protest), this is what we will do.
  1. COUNTRY SHUTS DOWN. Protests will go one in the rest of the town centres. But in Port Moresby, protests and speeches will be conducted within UPNG campus.
  2. OPPOSITION, DON POLYE, KERENGA KUA, WILLIAM DUMA. You people do not have to make political statements and hide from the crowd. Remember how O’Neill (and some of you) were “walking on the streets” (two years ago) to get into power? You must now come out and do the same now. If such behavior was tolerable then, it is more so now. Everyday blanket the airwaves and printed media and keep the heat up. Also when the police is muffling the crowd and infringing on people’s right, condemn it (condemn especially Vaki and Mero O’Neill).
  3. NATIONAL ALLIANCE PARTY, OTHER MPs. We know you are hanging around O’Neill not because you like or trust him. He also knows that you are silently rejoicing as he is fighting to cling onto power. Just publicly walk out and join the opposition. It is better to strike when the metal is “hot”!
  4. UNIVERSITIES/COLLEGES: All Student Leadership from Medical Faculty, UPNG, UNITECH, GOROKO campus, VUDAL and Divine Word must make their stands clearly known. Discuss amongst yourself and if nothing happens by next Tuesday, arrange a sit-in-strike, and close down the campuses.
  5. CHURCH LEADERS. Those Pentecostal “prophets” trying to have audience with Peter O’Neill must stop that and join the Catholic Church and ask the Prime Minister to step aside. If he is too proud, you bring your influence and join the rest of PNG. And remember we are YOUR parishioner. If you do not leave by example and condemn sin, you are in big trouble.
  6. TRADE UNION CONGRESS. Trade Union Congress must DECLARE STOP WORK next week.
  7. AIRNIUGINI WORKERS UNION. Within one year, 20%  of you will be laid off. That is the decision O’Neill government has taken. The country needs to know where you stand on this issue. You hold one of the key positions in this country. You have the power to stop the Japanese Minister coming in next week and keep rest of the Melanesian Solidarity Group in the country. Let corrupt Peter O’Neill exit the people’s seat in humiliation.
  8. POLICE UNION. If the rank and file within the police department is threatened by the O’Neill-appointed-Vaki, you still have a voice. Police Union must rise up. Stand united. Speak up against Vaki. You also as a citizen must refuse to obey orders that “interferes” with justice. Much better, come in civilian clothes and join the rest of us.
  9. ALL NGOs. Start contacting your sister-groups around the country. Simbus have issues a 24 hours ultimatum already. They mean what they say. They will do what they said they would do. Yes, go ahead and close the highlands highway. If you talk and act, the country will respect you. But if you do not act now, the next time you issue an ultimatum, the government will say, “ahh ol save toktok nating yeah. Ol bae ino inap wokim wanpela samting.” Go ahead and remove a BRIDGE or two. No more LNG. Country shuts down. After O’Neill is removed, the new Government will have the PNGDF re-construct it within days.
When is the best time to act? Sam Koim has done a marvelous thing. Australians know and respect the work SWEEP Team leader Koim has been doing. So it was natural for Australian media and government to receive him like they did. Now the rest of Melanesians who are camping in PNG must know our corrupt PM. He needs to be exposed in their face. PM must also be humiliated In front of the Japanese Prime Minister (if he still decides to come). So if justice is not delivered by the Supreme Court today, or again delayed, start mobilizing and the country must be CLOSED Starting Monday.
