An assessment on Governor Agiru's performance

By PETER MAI

Ever since Agiru taking the office as Governor of SHP in 1997, he had barely done anything. The only visible infrastructure that would be seen in Mendi town is the ill planned and poorly structured cob web filled seven story Agiru Center. Three quarter of the whole building is unoccupied, filled with filth and dirt. I wonder how much he (Agiru) has spent on that building the tax payers money.

The huge amount of millions of kina that was spent unnecessarily and lavishly on that wasted and unoccupied building should have been put into good use in areas such as upgrading of schools, health centers and infrastructure development such as the sealing of Mendi Tari road. Sadly all these have never been done by the fantastic fantasy governor – Anderson Agiru.

All the schools, Health Services and roads in Hela and Southern Highlands all have devastated from bad to worse.

Where has the huge cash flow from the LNG gone to?? Why are basic government services breaking down??? As a governor for SHP, he hasn’t done anything for SHP.

Anderson Agiru is well know for his sweet convincing unachievable talks which he manipulates to win the hearts and minds of the vast 80 % uneducated population of Hela and Southern Highlands. Due to the high illiteracy rate in the province, he was able to win the votes in the past because the people thought that what ever he said was right and true.

In 2012 Agiru won the national elections as the governor of Hela Province with a very narrow margin. He nearly got defeated by the runner-up, Andy Kapa Kenamo. This clearly shows that Helas are no more and no longer your fools anymore. Helas have shown you in the voting that we don’t really need a lavish and fantasy governor who is really good at talking but does nothing at all. Full of empty promises.

Since the election in 2012, we hardly see him around in Hela. Mr. Fantasy, when will the long talked and long over due super highway from Hela to Mendi eventuate? When will the Tari International Airport come to exist?  When will the Tari five star hospital eventuate? And more over, when will be your dreamed ZERO city materialize in Hela?

How much have you done to bring about real tangible basic everyday needed government service to the poor rural people who suffer every single day of their life to survive in this changing world? Mothers, fathers, daughters, sons, brothers and our sisters are dying of curable diseases.

Education standards are dropping due to government negligence. Roads and bridges are deteriorating due to government negligence. Where and what is happening to the revenue from the LNG? Tari, the provincial town of Hela is a ghost town, where one can hardly see any basic well established standard government infrastructures. All stores are makeshift and people operate market on any how and somehow basis…. A great shame to Agiru and his PEC members..

Corrupt incompetent ignorant and arrogant MPs do not deserve to be called a leader…. They deserve to be called bunch of Hooligan and thieves….

We know a secret you hide, you have millions parked overseas, something you keep to yourself but when its the people's money it has a way of making itself known.

All in all Governor Agiru is fantasy leader who is really good at talking and does nothing!

He really is in a fantasy world!

Right ship with the wrong captain!
