O’Neill Government Strategy Of Buying Loyalty Continues: Partytime Pruaitch Brings 4 Minor MPs On Taxpayer’s Junket To America

PNG Blogs Contributor Network

Buying loyalty in return for favours seems to be one of the Ten Commandments of the O’Niell Government and his Ministers dutifully follow O’Niell’s law. Treasury Minister Patrick Pruaitch just came back from a wine and women party to the United States, accompanied by minor MPs Gordon Wesley, Wera Mori, Ross Seymour and Salio Waipo. How much did that trip cost us taxpayers, and how does one submit acquittals for prostitute expenses? James Marape and goodness knows who else aren’t far behind in seeing the world. Any day now, Marape and friends will start their round the world sightseeing trip that is being promoted as a road show to raise loan money for the dreamland Hela Province hydro project of LR Group. No worries that they’re going to raise any money! At least we should be relieved that the Marape junket is funded by the LR Group, which is either partners with or naïve to PNG government corruption. Then again, how much money going into the hands of LR Group is coming from the taxes ripped out of our hands every fortnite?

Remaking an Image but not really. During his early years as MP Patrick Pruaitch was widely known as an uncontrollable drunk who constantly put himself into situations that embarrassed his mentor, Sir Michael Somare. Add a pair of respectable eye glasses and do we have a new Pruaitch? Don’t be silly. These 2 photos were taken within a few years of each other. The old Pruaitch never went away and taxpayers still pay for his partying.

Patrick Pruatich brought his MP friends along as nothing more than a bribe to remain loyal to Peter O’Neill. Being that they’ve all had much fun at the expense of the people of PNG, it’s our turn to have our fun, which means exposing some truths that Partytime Pruaitch would rather keep secret.

The reason for the Pruaitch trip was to hand over the “World Bank Chairmanship” over to his successor in Washington, DC, USA. Now let’s get it straight. Patrick Pruaitch was not the Chairman of the World Bank, and neither was Don Dumb Polye, who started the make-believe story and spread it all over PNG that HE was appointed to Chair the World Bank.

Such silliness, really. The World Bank chairmanship that Polye and Pruaitch shared for only a 1 year term is nothing more than a rotating position that is symbolic only, and goes around the table so that every one of the 188 member countries get the chance to pretend that they’re smart and important on the world stage even if they’re not. The chairmanship is so unimportant that you’ll find hardly anything about it in the world media. But once again assuming and defending our role as a gullible banana republic, PNG newspapers have always followed the story as if it were some big deal.

To be very accurate and specific, Dumb Polye and Partytime Pruaitch chaired the board of governors of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund. That sounds even more important, doesn’t it? It’s not. There is really only one main meeting of the governing board each year, and their role is to do nothing more than rubberstamp. All the power of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund lies in the hands of the funders i.e. USA and certain European countries. Dumb Polye puffed up his chest and told the gullible PNG people that he got the job because of his financial expertise, which is so ludicrous it begs belief anywhere but in PNG. What a laugh.

The last chairman of this board of governors was the representative from Luxembourg. Anyone heard of that country? Pruaitch handed over the chairmanship to the representative of Paraguay, another little known country who does share a reputation with PNG as being one of the most corrupt countries in the world, according to Transparency International (Paraguay is actually worse).

Doesn’t sound like there was much work for Partytime Pruaitch during this handover session in Washington, DC. That’s ok for Pruaitch, bring on the wine and women. All at PNG taxpayers expense.
