O'Neill's greed is killing Papua New Guineans,
by MARK PEWA
The death of one of our mine workers in the Ok Tedi
pit yesterday must be blamed on Peter O’Neill’s greed for cash to save his
bankrupt Government.
His teaboy Peter Graham pushed back into
production quick-time without thinking of the danger to workers.
The deaths were in the pit area where the
massive landslide was late last year which shut the mine down. This is the A Grade ore they wanted to get out at any cost.
That area is very well known to be unstable
and highly dangerous.
So why no comprehensive geotechnical
studies before mining restart?
Why no special precautions to protect
workers?
Why dangers of three days of heavy rain
ignored.
Graham and his team sent workers down there
to death to start making money for his masta as quick as he can.
All predications of disaster are come true
as a State-owned mine like Tolukuma.
Now INDEPENDENT INQUIRY MUST BE HELD TO
HONOR MEMORY OF WORKER. MINES DEPARTMENT MUST HOLD INQUIRY.
