HOW 25% OF PORGERA WAS MERGED WITH A K2 COMPANY

Image
By Sam Kaupa WE HAD 25% OF PORGERA IN THE 90s. WE MERGED IT WITH A K2 COMPANY WHICH CREATED PNG FOCUSED AUSTRALIAN OIL AND GAS COMPANY,  OIL SEARCH LTD– AND NOW WE WANT PORGERA BACK AT COST – A TALE SHROUDED IN HIGH LEVEL CORRUPTION AND CONTROVERSY MASTERMINDED BY GREEDY POLITICIANS AND THEIR COHORTS. When our forefathers gained independence in 1975 they established the Mineral Resources Development Company Limited (MRDC) which was 100% owned by the Government of Papua New Guinea. MRDC was incorporated on 27th May 1975 under the Companies Ordinance 1966.  It was not until 1981 that it became fully functional as a company entrusted with the duty to manage mining and petroleum resource equity interests on behalf of the State and Landowners.  It was the ultimate State Nominee to acquire the State and Landowner equity interests in mining and petroleum projects and to manage the equity funds for landowner companies from the major resource development areas of PNG. In 1996 during Sir Julius

by DANIEL TULAPI LLB In my one term of Member of parliament 1992 to 1997 , I , Daniel Bali Tulapi have stood up to Julius Chan ( PM) and foreigners when I was in NEC . I was sacked by Prime Minister Chan as minister for standing up to him for "telling him what to do in NEC. " I told PM Chan.. " I submitted a NEC policy to adopt the Saudi Arabia model of hard KINA policy and not to devalue the KINA at the world market currency trade market." I told National Executive Council (NEC) cabinet not to listen to foreigners and foreign governments. " I said the Kutubu oil when exported will be paid for and purchased by USA our KINA not by USA Dollar. That means and I said " K 1 = 3 USA Dollars. At that time K1 = 1.5 one Dollar 50 cents USA DOLLAR. I said we PNG maintain hard KINA policy and adopt Saudi Arabia model of the Riyal currency of Saudi Arabia 1 riyal = 3 USA dollars. Saudi Arabia was the largest oil exporter in the world at t

PAYBACK AGAINST JULIUS CHAN - ANOTHER MEMBER OF THE OPPOSITION SHAMED BY THE PETER O'NEILL GOVERNMENT

by   JT SOLOMON There is a very old PNG game that our MPs have played for many years. It involves one corrupt pollie calling another corrupt pollie corrupt without thinking. Then the pollie being accused shoots back and proclaims that the pollie who accused them is the corrupt one. They are also telling the truth. Suddenly both of them realise that the same shoe fits them both and if either one of them spills any more information about the bad things the other fellow did, the whole house of deception is likely to collapse and all the stories might come out. Then they both suffer. Suddenly all goes silent and the people of PNG remain in the dark. Just like the pollies want. We're wondering whether the same game has been played in the PNG sewers of power over the past few months. When Somare and Chan so strongly left the O'Neill government, the Prime Minister had some cutting words to give in reply. We've always heard that the PM is not above getting payback against

SANDLINE PERSONALITY JERRY SINGIROK, HERO OR ZERO?

NIUGINI OUTLOOK Before we hear any outcry from the loyalists screaming that Niugini Outlook is in the pay of this, that or the other politician, or that Niugini Outlook shouldn’t throw stones at glass houses because we probably live in one too, let us tirelessly and cheerfully address those complaints as follows. First, anyone bothering to look through the m ore than 1,500 posters and associated articles on our Facebook site knows very well that we pick on anyone who deserves to be picked on because of unethical or illegal actions as public personalities, especially those who are in jobs that are expected to serve the public interest. Yes, Peter O’Neill is an adulterer but Sam Basil is too and we’ve called them both out. Yes, Patrick Pruaitch is a major crook and so is Belden Namah. James Marape is a fraud and so is Don Poyle. We’ve called them all out. What is our moral authority to call these people out, don’t we at Niugini Outlook also commit sins and live in our own glass ho

The Germination and Spread of Corruption in Papua New Guinea: An Unfortunate Combination of Three Prime Ministers

by A NATIONAL RESEARCH INSITUTE STAFF MEMBER Three Prime Ministers including the Father of PNG, Sir Michael Somare, have, over the past 40 years, effectively congealed to destroy what could have been a bright future and equal opportunity for the people of Papua New Guinea following independence.    As such, the noble ideals articulated by Somare and other members of the legendary Bully Beef Club during their many gatherings prior to Independence, and articulated in the Constitution's Six Directives, were never fulfilled and today are essentially abandoned.     PNG's sad progression downwards has produced its current state of rampant corruption.   Like Nigeria, like Mexico, like Indonesia, all fabulously wealthy nations in terms of natural resources, the wealth has gone nowhere useful in PNG.    PNG drags the bottom in global rankings today in terms of how little meaningful integral human development has occurred for the majority of its population. Thus far, the adv
