O'NEILL CAUGHT OUT TELLING LIES - OKTEDI MINE.

Image
by BRYAN KRAMER MP Prime Minister Peter O'Neill was caught lying and misleading Parliament during question time when it resumed its first session in 2018 on Tuesday. O'Neill was responding to a question raised by the Governor of Western Province, Toboi Yoto asking when his people would benefit from Oktedi Mine and when they would receive the share certificates. Western Governor explained that since the O'Neill Government took over the mine in September 2013 it had failed to transfer the share certificates representing 33% interest in the mine to the Western Province people. Further, still, they had yet to receive their dividends. In response, O'Neill claimed when his Government took over the mine from BHP, who at the time wanted to shut down the mine for not being profitable. He said the Government inherited a loss-making machine. He confirmed his Government has yet to transfer 33% interest to the landowners, claiming it was because of stamp duties issue.

LEVEL OF INTELLIGENCE IN PARLIAMENTARIANS DIMINISHING AFTER EVERY ELECTION

Image
by  MYKALG WALGHE If there was a ranking for "the dumbest parliament" in the commonwealth then PNG would rank at the top , courtesy of 90% of its MPs who are unable to think critically, clearly, rationally, logically and contribute and debate constructively on national issues in the parliament. The PNG Parliament, the highest law making body of the land has become a laughing stock simply because our so called MPs have conducted themselves with less aptitude and intelligence over the last 20 years or so. It seems most of the MPs are loosing touch with the issues affecting the nation when they are supposed to be cognizance and on top of every issues as national leaders. Most of the leaders are caught off-guarded and are lost when important issues are raised in parliament and it's very embarrassing for them looking like fools in the parliament not knowing what to say. Most of the MPs hate parliament sittings badly and wish that the sessions would end quickly so t

POLITICAL STABILITY -V- ECONOMIC STABILITY

Image
by SAM KOIM Is Political stability the main driver of investor confidence? I have been led, and I believe many are, to believe that political stability is needed to give investor confidence and growing the economy. This misconception of synonymising political stability to economic stability has it’s seldom appearances in public grandstanding and political discourses. This is what I've discovered in debunking this illusion. Political stability talks about the length of time a government is in power. In terms of investor confidence, it means the investors can count on the current (negotiating) government for durability and certainty of the current position. Yes, in countries and time periods with a high propensity of government collapse (political instability), growth is significantly lower than otherwise but is it really political instability that really caused decline in growth? Economists may articulate it more clearly than I, but I gather that economic s

O'NEILL RUNS SCARED ADJOURNING PARLIAMENT TO MARCH 2016.

Image
by BRYAN KRAMER The news of O'Neill Government's decision to adjourn Parliament to March 2016 brought a smile to my face. A decision that was very much anticipated and welcomed. As predicted Peter O'Neill would do so to avoid facing the motion of vote of no confidence. It's my view it is typical of O'Neill to act like a coward demonstrating weak leadership by manipulating democratic processes to serve his own interest. Evidence of this fact was when Fraud squad members served him a warrant of arrest in June 2014. They kindly asked him to accompany them to be interviewed, he instead fled like a common criminal to hide out in Parliament House. Section 155 (Parliamentary Privileges) Constitution states Members of the Parliament are free from arrest for civil debt during meetings of the Parliament and during the period commencing three days before, and ending three days after. At the time Parliament was not even in session but nonetheless it didn't stop O

The first LNG cargo was shipped on 25 May 2014 destined for Tokyo Electric Power Co. Inc. (TEPCO) in Japan delivered on 2 June 2014. The LNG Project is expected to produce nine (9) trillion cubic feet of gas over 30 years. It has the capacity to produce 6.9 million tonnes per year. The report reads in part: “The Papua, the first custom-built LNG carrier for EMPNG, arrived at the LNG Plant Marine Terminal on 22 February 2014 to begin loading its first cargo.
