By SAM KOIM The current Shutdown in the United States of America begs my interests to share my observations in light of the recent announcement by our Prime Minister for the change of our system of Government. The powerful nation on earth (USA) has gone through its 2nd day of shutdown after the Republicans in the House of Representatives refused to approve funding for President Barack Obama’s signature healthcare reforms –the Obamacare. President Obama has had similar challenges when he required the House’ approval to intervene in the alleged use of chemical weapons by the Syrian Government in the very recent past. Coming up, a more serious piece of legislation that needs both the Senate and the House approval is the raising of the debt ceiling which is approaching very near (17th Oct). The fear that is looming in the State’s now is that Congress might be so caught up with the shut down and the same tensions might be drawn into the debt ceiling hence potentially affect the US economy.

By REX DAGI The OK Tedi mine belongs to the "Environmentally" affected landowners of the OK Tedi and Fly rivers. It was their court proceedings against BHP headed by their "TRUE" leader Mr. Rex Dagi who boldly stood up against all odds since the 5th of May1994, when he filed the Supreme Court Proceedings in the Victorian Supreme Court of Australia. Then in 1995 during Julius Chan regime, PNG government passed a legislation called "Foreign Court Proceedings Act" which is current law as it is. In the event that any land owners in PNG taking legal actions in any foreign courts is a criminal act. He never gave in until an out of court settlement agreement with BHP under certain terms in that agreement between the parties were reached in 1996 governed by the Victorian Supreme Court. Its no longer a conspiracy theory, what we are now witnessing and the actions of Peter O’Neill is more a silent and covert operation of foreign elements especially the International Financial Institutions of very wealthy families and individuals. PNG is now caught up in it. With the announcement that Treasurer Don Polye was appointed or elected by other Treasurers of other countries to be the Chairman of the World Bank and IMF, that is a very clear signal that, they are now putting the net around PNG and are dragging it into the global financial system to strangle PNG. Being the Chairman comes with money, power and previliges and all DECISIONS are and by the Board and in his position alone as Chairman, he cannot rock the Boat/Board. Whether Peter O’Neil and Don Polye realised that or not they are being lured and will be used. They already have a lot of investment in PNG, the largest single invest is the LNG worth US$2 Billion and the next is the WB/IMF share in BSP of arou
