KEEP THE FIRE BURNING, PNG!

PNG BLOGS  There is no retreat, there is no surrender. Never! We are moving forward, despite all odds, we cannot lose - not when the very spirit that defines PNG is at stake. Not when our constitutional rights to the freedom of speech, movement and assembly has been threatened!  If God is with us who can be against us? It is time to collectively get up, rise up, stand up and speak up for PNG against corruption.  We fought for positive change to come and the change came on November 18th, 2013 when we collectively said 'No to corruption and Yes to PNG', but not without sacrifices.  All of us who played our part and will continue to play our part all sacrificed and will continue to sacrifice in order to fight against corruption. We will stand up for constitutional rights, media freedom and democracy in PNG - regardless of the political divide and where our political preference or loyalties may lie. Regardless of deliberate political interference and negative, unconstructive, unhel

Bold Belden gains momentum on corruption fight.

By JASON GIMA WURI Opposition Leader and Member for Vanimo Green Hon. Belden Namah has taken a bold stand to fight corruption and he will not sleep until corruption is ridded from the corridors of Waigani. Mr Namah has publicly accused the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea of giving directives for payments to be made to Paul Paraka Lawyers. The most honourable thing for Prime Minister Peter O’Neill to do now is to step aside and allow for investigations to take place. Peter O’Neill is also the Police Minister which in this case makes the investigations virtually impossible to carry out as the Police Commissioner will be investigating his boss the Prime Minister who was the man who put him into office. Why is Peter O’Neill holding on to the Prime Minister’s office as if it his birth right? Regarding the taunting remarks the Prime Minister said about the Opposition Leader on the floor of Parliament recently about how the Opposition Leader is still being in the sense of a soldier. Mr N

IMF/WB Board Chair, PNG Treasurer, Polye is major cause of 2014 PNG Budget Deficit

PNGBlogs Exim Bank US$6bill was intended to patch the financial hole in 2012 budget and effect carried over into the 2014 budget. PM O’Neill’s own PGK600 million political commitment, including his alleged PGK71.8 million ‘Paraka Lawyers’ direction payout, as well as K1 does little to massage the economy either. IMF/World Bank Board Chairman, PNG Treasurer Don Polye is alleged to have been personally involved in a PGK 500 million financial fraud, if established, would become the fraudulent deception of the decade. It will also firmly establish the basis for PNG’s spiraling unprecedented PGK7 billion budget deficit since independence. While the eight million people of PNG, its public service and the business sector are absorbing the implications of the PGK4 billiion deficit budget handed down yesterday, it may be just a ‘smokescreen’ over an alleged conspiracy involving the Treasurer, PM O’Neill and Finance Minister James Marape. "A leopard does not change its spots" A true look at Peter O'Neill's false hope and empty promises.

By SAM BASIL MP I have released several comments about the never to be released 2014 as a result of much work that has been developed since the 2012 elections. My commentary provided to the people of Papua New Guinea (from the villages to the towns and everyone in between) has been done to ensure we get best economic outcomes for our country and all citizens.  The Prime Minister in Parliament on Friday provided a disrespectful response to the questions raised which is not unusual for a Prime Minister who has had the greatest opportunity to lead this great nation, but instead has overseen the complete mismanagement of the economy for the people of Papua New Guinea.  He further has taken action against the Opposition Leader as the questions he asked are probing and get to the heart of the matters – the Prime Minister does not tell the truth but works deals for his own personal outcome. The Prime Minister claims that I am lying which is his usual response when he and his g

OHE's Kavanamur and acting VC Pumwa allowing the Secret Sevua report saga to paralyse Unitech

By Unitech Loyalist UniTech confusion is getting worse.  Is Minister David Arore of HERST out of control in the O’Neill government or part of a government that lies at every turn?  The former council of UniTech created this mess. The new council headed by Sir Nagora Bogan is the possible way out of this mess but council can’t approve the Sevua report because Minister David Arore ordered the report not to be acted upon even within the council meeting. Minister Arore is hiding the report to protect corrupt members of the old UniTech council.  Minister Arore is following Don Polye’s unwise decision a few months back that the report would not be made public.Meanwhle those who plan to take over UniTech by year end are spreading propaganda around campus at this very moment to tell staff to except the change in UniTech leadership back to the old council. Acting VC Prof John Pumwa is the boss right now at UniTech. Unfortunatly he is now helping Minister David Arore keep UniTech national staff

PNG's Worst Prime Minister Ever - PM Peter O’Neill

JAMES POWI I have been watching silently on the sidelines minding my own business, but it has occurred to me that I can’t keep silent anymore! I must air my views regarding what I call a “political virus” aka Peter O’Neill. First and foremost, let me be frank, PM Peter O’Neill is undoubtedly the worst Prime Minister this nation has ever seen. Under his watch, he has allowed the PNG Kina to slide down within a period of less than one year 2013 which in my books sits at the top of all his blunders and you all are well aware that he has made many! The devaluation of the Kina is his direct fault because as the “CEO” of this country, he and his Treasurer and Finance Ministers have failed miserably to store funds to mitigate the impact the lowering of prices of our major export commodities gold, copper and silver. They have further contributed enormously by taking a blind $6 Billion Loan From the Exim Bank of China of which in essence is an ‘import’ (money going out). And it does not stop th

O'Neill a puppet for the Australian agenda

By SIMON TIPU Recently there where a good number of posts regarding the systematic and systemic corruption being perpetrated by politicians, and people in positions of power. The lies, the deceits and betrayals that has become the norm in PNG. So many of this vitriolic posts have being directed against the current Government headed by Peter O'Neill, his Ministers, other MPs in the Govt, heads of the bureaucracy, SOEs, and etc. In 2012, when PNG last held its National Elections, many commentators said that the Elections was rigged and people who they didn't think would become MPs in the current Parliament somehow won a seat. Most MPs with their Parties in tow supported PO in a landslide win to become the PM of PNG whether he was accused of breaching the Constitution when he first grabbed power in August of 2011. When Somare was PM, the Australians have always said that PNG was a failed state and they were prepared to intervene. Why was that? What had Somare done to receive veile
