Will Papua New Guinea hang this man on 12th December?

By PNGBLOGS   On Thursday, 12th December 2013, the council of the PNG University of Technology will decide the fate of UniTech Vice Chancellor Albert Schram.  At stake is the standard of education UniTech students will be getting in coming.    The Sevua investigation of Schram and resulting report has now attracted the support of Port Moresby’s anti-corruption activists, becoming part of their list of demands aimed at the perpetually misleading government of Peter O’Neill.  The anger deepens and spreads because the UniTech scandal is a case study in the O’Neill government’s blatent tolerance of injustice. It is also another clear example of public servants being paid with our taxes to solve a problem when actually all they do is waste public money by backing off, running away, flip flopping, lying, or pretending as needed, to dodge responsibility.  I have become damn angry reading what has been going on at UniTech because a lot of my pay is deducted to pay idiots like them and the mone

In the holy name of Transparency, The Righteous Examines the Obstructionist in the Unitech Saga

By PASTOR THOMAS Praises to God that a few TRUE PATRIOTS AND TRUE CHILDREN OF GOD are coming out with information that should be shared with the readers of PNGBLOGS.   The main obstructionists in Unitech Saga are now known. For the record the main governing body of Unitech is not the Prime Minister or any Minister, but a Council appointed by NEC.  The old council headed by Philip Stagg and Ralph Saulep was suspended in January and replaced with a much improved Unitech Interim Council.  Members are: •       Sir Nagora Bogan, Chancellor (former Ambassador to USA) •       Alan McLay (Lae Chamber of Commerce President) •       John Napu (Private Lawyer) •       Dr Ken Ngangan (President, Chartered Professional Accountants Association) •       Mr Joseph Hamylton (Presidet, Institute of PNG Engineers) The above list has many RESPECTABLE GOD FEARING CHRISTIANS by name. However there is one rotten sour-sop in the group and that is none other than Lawyer John Napu. JOHN NAPU IS A FALSE PROCLAIM

Corruption + leadership shirking + public apathy = Continued decline for PNG

By George Manok I am a PNG national raised and living overseas.  Nearly everything I know about PNG current events comes from what I read on the internet.  I can see that blogs are the future to learn the truth about any controversy.  Unlike traditional newspapers, a blog allows both sides to have their say and debate until their faces are blue and all the positives and negatives of the controversy comes out.  If one side won’t say anything, that is good evidence too.  Overall, blogs give those of us who are not directly involved the best opportunity to judge who is on the right or wrong side of an issue.   I am disturbed by how my PNG looks to people overseas.  There are so many good things about my country that would shine if not for 3 problem areas that dominate the news. These areas are (1) primitive and backwards behaviour by a very small minority (example-witch hunts and witch burning), (2) PNG government corruption, and (3) poor, laid back attitude of average Papua New Guineans

By RENATA LAVEIL We have a very deflective and directive Prime Minister at the ‘helm’ of this country, by now most Papua New Guineans are not blind to the tactics used by O’Neill to downplay any question or issue that is put to him, especially questions regarding money. Yesterday, he openly denied in parliament the government having issued any bonds totalling K500 million as alleged by the Opposition Leader, Hon. Belden Namah during his Budget response. In an article dated 17th April 2013, on the Business Advantage it was reported that the Papua New Guinea Government was apparently exploring the option of US Dollar bond to help finance its deficit budget. According to International sources the PNG govt engaged Barclays, J.P Morgan and BNP Paribas to assist with possible bond issue which should raise as much as US$ 500m (K1, 199 million est.) allegedly for the government coffers. While it could not be confirmed when the PNG government’s proposal to expand to the international market eve
