SO WHEN WILL THE PUBLIC PROSECUTOR REFER THE PRIME MINISTER TO FACE THE LEADERSHIP TRIBUNAL?

By BRYAN KRAMER Three weeks ago (6 October 2014) I posted an article on whether the Public Prosecutor (PP) would refer the Prime Minister (PM) to the Leadership Tribunal to face allegations of misconduct in office, for his part in facilitating the K3 Billion UBS Loan. The prediction was that the PM’s referral would be no later than Friday of the week that followed my post. This presumption was founded on independent intel, extensive research and informed analysis. Unfortunately that was not so and the PP instead issued a Press Statement on the Thursday of that week announcing he required "certain vital evidence" from Ombudsman Commission (OC) before he decides whether to ask the Chief Justice (CJ) to set up a Leadership Tribunal to investigate the PM. Such action by the PP was not only extraordinary it was unprecedented. This caused me to retrace my sources and re-evaluate what led the PP to make such an uncharacteristic judgement: Firstly for taking s

"DESPERATION AND DESTRUCTION"

Image
By BOMAI GUNN PNG is already destroyed; the state institutions, the constitutions, political parties and parliamentary democracy, the economy, leaders and individuals to mention a few. Here are some of the destructions that stems from desperation and self-interest: On August 02 2011, Peter O’Neill illegally sieged power over a legal and legitimate government of Grand Chief Sir Michael Thomas Somare, Regional member for East Sepik. O’NEILL DESPERATELY DESTROYED AND UNDERMINED THE CONSTITUTION OF PNG THAT GOVERNS THE ELECTION OF PM. On 12th December 2011 PNG Supreme Court decision ruled 3-2 that Sir Michael’s ousting was an invalid act as the post was not vacant, and that he should be reinstated. Despite, O’NEIL DESPERATELY DISOBEYED AND UNDERMINED/NULLIFIED THE SUPREME COURT DECISION. In inducing and enticing voters in PNG for the 2012 national election, O’Neil’s illegal government over-committed unbudgeted expenses for free education that resulted in K500 million defi

Noah Anjo, Here Is Why I Won’t Join In Your Anti-Corruption Demonstrations

Image
By: A Port Moresby Resident Port Moresby activist Noah Anjo has been around for some time now.  He has always preached against corruption.  He first became famous when Michael Somare had Anjo kidnapped while Somare was PM and was slapped around at Somare’s house.   He has continued to protest against corruption ever since. I have been to 2 of the protests he organised and was considering more. I’m very much against corruption and disheartened to see what Peter ONeill is doing who has become far worse than Michael Somare.   Our country is going to the pigs with the amount of money stealing boing on from top to bottom.  I am infuriated at the destruction of PNG by these thieves of which peter ONeill is the most cunning. But I will no longer come to protests of Noah Anjo.   He knows I am not alone in my feeling.  On Thursday I heard that he was complaining at the poor showing to his first legal protest.   That should have been a day when thousands, free from fear of police arre

50 PERCENT GST RISE IMMINENT, PNG SHOULD BRACE FOR POSSIBLE INFLATION

Image
By JEFFREY  RUNDUALI   PNGBLOGS EXCLUSIVE NEC sources have confirmed what PNG Blogs told you weeks ago - Prime Minister Peter O’Steal is planning a massive increase in taxation of the grassroots to make up for his destruction of the national economy and government finances. A submission is going to NEC for a huge 50% increase in the GST, from 10% to 15%. This will bring Mr O’Steal’s tax burden on ordinary Papua New Guineans into line with the richest countries in the world. It will hurt the grassroots most, it will kill small PNG-owned businesses and it will lead to severe job losses, but the rich and corrupt, like Mr O’Steal, will suffer the least. The tax increase comes at a time when Mr O’Steal’s mismanagement of the economy and government finances is already leading to price rises - especially on basic items such as bully, tinpis and rice, medicine, household goods, clothes, shoes, diesel, petrol and zoom, virtually every essential item he Little Conman is inflicting on eve

GENESIS OF A DECEITFUL CARRIER – PETER O’NEILL

Image
By ROIT S MULAN Peter O’Neill hatched out of Goroka. All the businesses that Peter O’Neill himself started never survived a year. He was a failed businessman in all senses. After having numerous failures in Goroka, he decided to sell his last business to Simon Sia, the owner of Bintangor and relocate to Port Moresby. It was all perfect settlement -O’Neill doctored the financial records in such a way that the business was debt free. After purchasing the business, Sia discovered that the business had various debts totalling to almost a million kina. Sia tried to take O’Neill to Court but O’Neill protracted the court proceedings (sounds familiar?) and further cloistered himself within the corridors of power at Waigani. Bire Kimisopa knows it all as he was Sia’s accountant at that time. Peter O’Neill discovered that the new manure to grow his business was POLITICS and PROCEEDS OF FRAUD. He would start up a business and use his political connections to channel money into that business. Th

Please, Mr Prime Minister, NO MORE New Task Forces or Commissions Of Inquiry

Image
PNG Blogs Contributor Network I have grown tired of the well known political strategy of covering up problems by investigating them, putting the findings into reports that often are never released to the public, and then walking away from the recommendations and findings as if they never existed. We all know what became of the NPF commission of inquiry report.   The inquiry report recommended the prosecution of Jimmy Maladina, Peter O’Neill, and Herman Leahy.  The COI was chaired by Tos Barnett, a retired judge who had previously produced the logging corruption Barnett Report that was a damning indictment of the corruption of Michael Somare and his family, plus many others.   Barnett knew how to investigate and he certainly knew what kind of evidence was needed to lead to successful prosecution.   Maladina, O’Neill and Leahy were prosecuted as per the inquiry’ recommendations, and a national court found them not guilty.  At the time, there was an outcry of injustice but it didn’

NO ROOM FOR HONEST, HARDWORKING PEOPLE LIKE ZEBEDEE MOSETO IN PORT MORESBY ANYMORE

Sara Ringat More than 90% of the population of Port Moresby didn’t traditionally come from the lands of Port Moresby.  Instead, they or their parents migrated to Port Moresby from someplace else in PNG.  But now that they’re here, they don’t want anyone else to have the same opportunity that they, their parents, or others in their family had.    Now they want to stop immigration into Port Moresby.   In their hazy brain filled with selfishness and greed, they forget that they or their parents, pushed out customary landowners directly or indirectly in their own migration into Port Moresby.   Yes, they seem to forget about that.   These self righteous migrants or descendants of migrants to Port Moresby also seem to forget that the pockets of most migrants were not full of money when they arrived, but often completely empty.   These, the first urban poor of PNG. struggled, frequently lived as squatters and worked their way up slowly in economic status.   They saved their money to send
