GORDON WESLEY ANOTHER PNC INCEST PEST - PUSPUS WITH OWN DAUGHTERS, DAD TO OWN KIDS BABY

Image
by JOEL SALAMBI Gordon Wesley has been in Papua New Guinea politics for a lifetime, in the time he has been in Parliament, he has been an unknown MP, only keeping to himself, making himself known to those in power as a number to keep the government going. He has never come out in the media to engage on national issues. He has remained in Parliament as part the government back-bench boondoggle. His private life is now under the spotlight as attention is being paid to the Deputy Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea of sexually molesting and using his late sister's daughters to please himself. Mr. Wesley's sexual escapade is known in his own community but fear of reprieve and general harassment and intimidation has lead the story to go away from the public eye. Recently PNG Blogs broke a story about the incest exploits of Leo Dion, Deputy Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea, communities in the East New Britain Province where the victims are currently located strongly came out a

PNG – CHANGE NEEDED TO MEET PEOPLE'S POTENTIAL

Image
by PAUL FLANAGAN Summary PNG politicians are failing their people. Their poor policies have led to dramatic declines in economic well-being – an extraordinary fall of over one-third since 1980. This is revealed by applying new numbers from the PNG National Statistics Office (NSO) and International Monetary Fund to PNG’s economic history. From 2012 to 2017, under the O’Neill government, average economic well-being for the people of PNG has declined by 2.8%. This reverses positive economic gains of 8.4% from 2000 to 2012. PNG is returning to the poor economic performance it experienced during the 1980s and especially the 1990s – lost decades for development. This is a shame. From 1980 to 2017, economic well-being in PNG per citizen declined by an extraordinary 40.4 %. This is a development failure. In contrast, the resource sector has grown strongly.  It is now 48.1% larger per capita than in 1980. The resource sector boomed by 62% during the 1990s when the no

BANK OF PNG PRINTING MONEY AND FUELLING CORRUPTION

Image
The latest data released by the Bank of Papua New Guinea shows that the central bank has been printing money for the government, fuelling its wasteful spending. “The central bank has irresponsibly financed the Budget deficit, covered up and facilitated Prime Minister Peter O’Neill’s waste and mismanagement,” former Prime Minister Sir Mekere Morauta said today. “It has contributed to the growing mountain of public debt created by Mr O’Neill – in other words the central bank has colluded in the imprudent financial activities of the O’Neill Government.” In 2016, according to data in the BPNG’s Quarterly Economic Bulletin, the bank lent almost K2 billion to the Government. Net lending to the government was K800 million in December alone. The Central Bank has lent that money to the Government because there is no appetite in the private sector – commercial banks, superannuation funds and other investors - to buy its debt instruments such as T-Bills. “The new data from the Bank of Papua

IPATAS CORNERED BRING UP LATE MALIPU BALAKAU TO RESUSCITATE CHANCES

by SAM TAMEAN (Enga Waii Pii) Peter Ipatas the sitting Governor for Enga Province trailing terribly in campaign 2017 under Prime Minister Peter O'Neill's PNC Party. He has now resorted to playing the system by issuing a PREVENTATIVE ORDER to the front runner Jeffrey Balakau 7days ago. Part of the Preventative order by Peter Ipatas to Jeffery Balakau states: "Ipatas claimed in the order that he (Ipatas) was accused of being the one who killed late Malipu Balakau and in revenge Ipatas claims Jeffrey Balakau in his campaign is going around saying he will kill Ipatas hence the order" The matter is postponed to Wednesday to talk face to face in front of OMS and PPC between Balakau and Ipatas to verify the claims. For all  who do now know the history behind this, the late Malipu Balakau was assassinated June 30 1989 and that's like 28 years ago when he was the Enga Regional Member in Mt Hagen. Now.... Why wait until now when team Balakau has campaigned

O'NEILL'S DEBTS WILL CRIPPLE THE NATION

Image
PNG BLOGS Prime Minister Peter O’Neill’s boast that he will increase national debt will burden all Papua New Guineans by committing future income to high interest payments, reducing the amount available for health, education and transport. “A primary cause of the woes Papua New Guinea is currently experiencing is Mr O’Neill’s gross mismanagement of the economy and public finances, including imprudent borrowing,” Sir Mekere said. “His stated intention to increase borrowing if he is re-elected will make matters much, much worse, and will prolong by many years any attempt to rescue the nation. “It is an example of his arrogant and uncaring attitude.” Sir Mekere pointed out that under the Fiscal Responsibility Act, the K22 billion public debt already incurred by Mr O’Neill has surpassed the legal limit by more than 5 percent above the permitted 30 percent of GDP. His plan to increase debt even further is simply irresponsible.  It should be prevented and it should be inves

REWARDS FOR DRUG SUPPLIES, KNIGHTHOODS IN PNG SINK TO NEW LOWS

Image
Former Prime Minister Sir Mekere Morauta said today he was shocked to read in The National of 2 June that Mr Martin Poh of Borneo Pacific Pharmaceuticals had publicly celebrated an apparent knighthood before the award had been announced by Buckingham Palace or the Office of the Papua New Guinea Governor-General. The article was headlined: ‘Kidney Foundation Star to be Knighted’. Sir Mekere said: “Every rule of Palace and Government protocol has been broken here. It just goes to show that knighthoods in Papua New Guinea have become very cheap commodities.” Sir Mekere said that although he welcomed the report and the work of the Kidney Foundation, and recognised the urgent need for affordable dialysis treatment, people should not forget the history of the contract for the supply of drugs that was awarded to Borneo Pacific in 2013. “Borneo Pacific did not meet the requirements set for the tender, so their political friends in power instructed that the terms of the tender be changed mid

Too little land, too much conflict

Mining communities continue to disagree over the use of sparse land   by SHELINA ASSOMULL Mining activity, for years now, has been an issue of serious environmental dispute to the communities it affects – particularly in developing countries. Once land is used for mining activity, it becomes unusable for many other large industries in resource rich developing countries, such as farming and forestry. Particularly Impacting communities in developing countries, largely due to a lack of governmental regulation and structure in the face of such projects. Although conflict resolution strategies have been attempted to address this long standing issue, it seems as though, community consultation; coordination of governments; compensation packages and working partnerships between large and small scale miners, is what’s required, but hardly done successfully. Despite the gloom and doom, there is a lot to be said about mining creating economic growth within communities. In Canada, m
