WILL OC LOOK INTO O'NEILL'S $13M SYDNEY MANSION?

Image
by WILLIAM BERANO In reference to the story published by the Australian Financial Review titled" Son of ousted PNG PM living in 13M Sydney Waterfront Home," why hasn't the Ombudsman Commission moved on this crucial information?  The former PM has stated that his son resides alone in the mansion while he (O'Neill) is renting from an old friend, Sir Theophilus Constantinou. The whole world knows this is hogwash as the former PM has boasted to colleagues about his new waterfront home in Sydney. Can the Ombudsman Commission perform its role and demand document evidence of this so-called "rental agreement" and transaction details to prove that he (O'Neill) has been paying rent since his son (a university student) moved into the residence?  We, the people of PNG, find this excuse absolutely ridiculous! If O'Neill claims he has never stayed at the residence, then why would he pay rent for his son to live alone in a very spacious $13M mansion? At

POLITICAL PARTY PROSTITUTES - PNG HAS MANY

Image
by  Therow Zuaru   Almost more than two-thirds of parliament is occupied with "political party prostitution politicians". Those politicians have similar character resembles a prostitute. Politics and Prostitution are only jobs where inexperience is considered as a virtue. People jumping from one party to another or switching political ideologies like diapers. They will hardly sell their real policies, development plans, manifesto or discuss any bread and butter issues in a more mature way. In Papua New Guinea politics, those political party prostitution politicians raid on people's ignorance. We have a very few elites at the top, very limited numbers of the middle class and majority poor, ignorant and naive citizens. They have ensured to maintain the status quo so that it's easy to manipulate the masses. Due to this reality, our Politics are not Policy-driven and oriented rather promised oriented and driven. Most of their campaign messages are based on a verb

QUESTION MARKS OVER PRIME MINISTER'S "HOPE INSTITUTE" FOLLOW THE MONEY?

Image
by PAUL MANGAPE  Prime Minister James Marape has squandered millions of public funds to set up a privately-owned tertiary vocational school called Hope Institute.  While he proclaims to take back PNG, PM Marape has forgotten the fact that he has misappropriated millions of taxpayers’ money meant for public service delivery to the people of Tari-Pori to establish a hopeless private tertiary institution at his home village.  As per IPA records, the so-called Hope Institute at Marape’s paternal village of Pai in Tebi LLG, Tari-Pori, has two owners. Hope Institute is legally incorporated as a private business entity under the Business Name Act with its beneficial owners or shareholders identified as messers Larsen Marabe and Henry Aki.  This Post Courier photograph taken in 2017 shows James Marape receiving the keys of a 25 seater coaster bus from a representative of Mineral Resources Development Company (MRDC) that donated the bus to the newly established Hope Institute. FROM COMRADES TO ENEMIES, TO BROTHERS IN PEACE

Image
Words and Pictures by MERIBA TULO An emotional scene this morning at the start of the Pre-Reconciliation ceremony in Kokopo, with former PNGDF Commander Jerry Singirok, embracing his former commanding officer Joe Pais. This morning was the very first time both men had met since 1978 - understandably an emotional occasion for both gentlemen. Mr Pais had been Singirok's Platoon Commander after completing training at the Joint Services College. Both men had been on opposing sides of the Bougainville conflict - Mr Singirok rising through the ranks of the Defence Force to become its Commander in the 1990s, whilst Pais had become a rebel during the Crisis. The crisis had meant that both men were enemies - seldom crossing paths while in battle. This morning though was emotional for both gentlemen as they embrased and shed tears - recalling their comradeship prior to the Bougainville conflict. Their stories are one of many that are being shared as veterans from the State Security Forc

THE IPATAS LEGACY

Image
by ANTHONY SMARE 25 years ago, I was a student at the University of Papua New Guinea, and because I had spent part of my childhood in Porgera in Enga, I was a member of the Enga Students Association and also the Porgera Students Association (total membership of 3). Back then, although a vocal and exuberant group, the Engan students were one of the smallest provincial groups at UPNG, as they were at all tertiary institutions in Papua New Guinea. In those days, then it was common for Engans (and others) to refer to their province Enga as “the last place in PNG”. Fast forward to today, and in every graduating class at any of the tertiary institutions in PNG, you will find that Engans make up among the largest ethnic representation. To understand the genesis of this significant rise of the Engan educated demographic, one must start with looking back to what happened in 1997, when the Engan people elected a little known village councillor as their Regional member and Governor, Peter Ipat

IS UPNG GOING TO THE DOGS? MORE EVIDENCE IT IS

by SOLOMON AWILI  I am a Senior Lecturer and currently the Head of Banking and Finance Division at the School of Business and Public Policy and has a PHD in Finance from Flinders Uni in Australia and declare before God and man that what is written on the Reference was actually written by the said Indian Lecturer. I have a similar Reference which was picked up lying around at the printer area. Once we call up the concerned student (because I believe he or she should have a copy of the signed Reference) the truth will then be revealed. This is not a joke.  In fact this is a serious real issue of concern and it is indeed frightening. To confirm whether these fake qualification holders are literate or not my call is ask them to as a matter of urgency sit for the internationally recognized and accepted International English Language Test (IELTS) to test their speaking, writing, hearing and reading capabilities and see the results.  I am very convinced beyond any doubt that the tru

OUSTED PM COMMENTS OF ECONOMIC CRISIS HE ORCHESTRATED

Image
by MECK PAIA The very outlandish Former Prime Minister Peter Oneill does not demonstrate that he has any real gauge of what has transpired on the floor of parliament recently and its universal implications. This is a synopsis of what it means to be voted out as a Prime Minister: 1- You have failed 2- You have lost your following 3- You have been rejected 4- Your party and its policies are shunned 5- Your socio-economic perspective is irrelavant 5- You are now the Opposition Present 'chain of circumstance' actions to take: 1- Eat humble pie 2- Admit errors 3- Engage in positive debate 4- Play 'mans game' opposition 5- Concentrate on get back into parliament come 2022. PNG is for our kids not our egos. We must think big, not think marbles and play native politics with kickback deals and silly dead end politics. PMJM in his wisdom has recruited the most astute candidate he has in his line up, in Hon. Ian Ling-Stuckey. Ling-Stuckeys competence has been demonstrated on the
