William Duma- Reminding you of your Roots!

Image
by FRANK MENEM JR Our forefathers were the first celebrated people on earth to have toiled the land and farm the upper Wahgi Valley. We have survived without any resources apart from our land from which we cultivate and propagate our fresh vegetables and green coffee beans.
Those legendary men and women were among the prominent Highlanders to embrace the ‘white men’ during the wave of civilization. They were classified as the first known primitives who were hospitable and capable of forging lasting relationships with the Europeans. Our people were classified as permanently rich in culture and abundantly wealthy by the first Europeans.
A Catholic Missionary had this to write about our people;
“The Hagen people of the Wagi raised pigs in abundance and at times, they would even slaughter up to a thousand in a day for their neighbors or allies to celebrate or mark their relationship”.
During the migration epochs after the onset of the Leahy brothers, we had more than a few coffee plantati…

WHERE IS KOMPIAM AMBUM'S TEN MILLION KINA LAW & JUSTICE SECTOR GRANTS

Image
by LEO AMBEN As I write this, Kompiam Government station is under fire. For twenty Years, Ambum people have died trying to and while fleeing from tribal war lords. Those who escaped successfully are living miserable lives. The last break I visited, my heart melted at the sight of families living in exile, in forever fear and agony, feeling depressed and isolated. School aged children’s lives and education are continuously being deprived while living an asylum’s life.
All these are happening right under watchful eyes of John Pundari, not to mention his strongholds from whom he seek advice.
I cannot be complacent this time any more. Not when I have literally buried chopped up bits and pieces of my fathers’ and brothers’ remains. The District Services Improvement Program (DSIP) Fund per province is Ten Million Kina (K10 Million). This K10 Million is broken down into seven main service sector grants. Shown below the allocation per service sector per year together with an estimated 10 years …

2017 ELECTION IS THE MOST CRUCIAL FOR PNG CONSIDER THIS AND DECIDE

Image
by MEAGHER TAYLOR This coming 2017, National General Election is most significant and crucial for the nation Papua New Guinea, and for every provinces, including my beloved Gulf Province with its current LNG issues. We have witnessed well over 5 years of turbulence, instabilities, corruptions, and undue manipulations of individuals, and reputable organisations, by current government of Peter O’Steal. The extent of the damages done by this grand coalition government to methodically destabilised the legal functions, rule of laws, procedures, processes and control structures is beyond comprehension. PNC and the ruling alliance has destroyed the independence and trust of custodian institutions designed to uphold the constitution, safe guard, and protect the nation. These acts of control by egotistic avaricious Prime Minister and his cohorts are mere deeds of criminalities to avoid incarceration. The principles and visions on which this nation was built upon by our fore-father many demised…

By Fasa Gima Stanley David I will highlights some very important personal views below and I hope nobody will take my view as political gimmick...well if you do so, it's your right as well as my right of freedom of expression. Firstly , we must know that Ignorance is one of the master killer of life's fabric of connections and survival. Below are some of Polye's ignorances that matters most to us the people that he boostfully represent and connections to his style of leadership (People's Connections to Polye's Leadership) For transparency sake, and as far as I know, let me tell my readers that few of the services delivered by our local MP are devalued and DSIP and Ministerial money were less used and I don't know where DSIP money most went...He was the minister all these 10 donkey years and nothing is shown in Kandep...If Sam Basil, a opposition MP can change Bulolo, whats wrong with our MP...!!? There is nothing that Justifies Mr Polye's existence in Kande…

FRIGHTENING GOVERNMENT PERFORMANCE IN 8 KEY AREAS OF THE ECONOMY

NATIONAL BUDGET SPOOKS PRIVATE BUSINESS AND INVESTMENT IN PNG

byWILSON TALAG Economist Paul Flanagan's recent remarks that appeared in PNG Blogs and elsewhere highlight 8 key areas of what looks to be looming financial disaster.  Mr Flanagan's enlightening report is the basis for this discussion and why the performance of each one of the key areas has started to  spook business and investors.  The seriousness of PNG’s current financial situation is becoming very clear.   A little over a week ago the government came very close to failing to come up with the year end public servant pay.  This near disaster occurred despite supplementary budgets designed to avoid such unexpected money shortages.   Another red flag flying high and warning that behind the scenes, PNG's finances are rapidly deteriorating under the O'Neill government.

The 8 key areas of concern are (1) Government lies over the actual size and growth of the PNG economy, (2) Discrepancies  over GDP economic gro…
