IN POLITICS NEVER RETREAT, NEVER RETRACT,NEVER ADMIT A MISTAKE.

Image
by  JAMES ASANGE In politics… never retreat, never retract… never admit a mistake. Those were the words of a tyrant named Napoleon Bonaparte. The recent revelation regarding several Whatsapp messages among our Honourable Prime Minster, James Marape and his Pangu Party cohorts have stirred up so much anxiety amongst Papua New Guineans whilst also reinforcing blind faith in those that see him as a stainless demigod. Amidst the eminent threat posed by the Corona Virus pandemic, such a leak has been modulated by the government and the Prime Minister. Even educated Papua New Guineans do not wish to comment on the issue for varying reasons. I believe that everything happens for a reason and we all must embrace the fact that there is no such thing as accident; it is fate misnamed. Only a fool would believe that Pangu Party members weren’t promised anything for their loyalty and their support for the Prime Minister. Only a fool would believe that all the governments formed, both past

PM SCRUTINISE HEALTH MINISTER AND SENIOR OFFICERS

Image
by DOH Whistleblower SCRUTINISE HEALTH MINISTER AND SENIOR OFFICERS AT DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH ON COVID - 19 FUNDING Can the Rt Honourable Prime Minister scrutinise and examine the minister responsible for Health & HIV AIDS and other senior officers on the accessibility and spending of COVID 19 Funding. From the reliable sources have informed me that the minister is interfering with the administrative functions of the department in the procurement process. Other senior officials are also colluding with the minister to have some personal interest in their management of the funding earmarked for the pandemic. The following issues need to be looked at; 1. There are two (2) resigned officers (names withheld) have been recalled and engaged by the dept to assist the acting secretary during this time of crisis. Well its reasonable and a good call in fact that their memories and experiences are required at this stage. However, it doesn’t not go well with other senior officers wh

CENTRE-PIECE OF CABINET: KRAMER & KUA

Image
by JOHN KAMA The new Marape-Davis government has created a centre-piece in the cabinet that the entire country is drawn in with so much interest in the appointment of Kerenga Kua and Bryan Kramer among the 33 cabinet ministers. The following are the uniqueness about their appointment, hence, became the centre-piece of attraction: 1. They were members of the opposition who never voted for PMJM. 2. Their appointment to ministry as opposition members was unconventional in the WestMinster System. 3. They were the two top critics of the last government whom PMJM & majority of his current cabinet members were part of. 4. They both stood for zero tolerance on corruption at all levels by both citizens and non-citizens. 5. They were both outspoken on white collar corruption and the arrest of former PM Hon. Peter O'Neill and his cronies. 6. They both understood every letter of the law and were willing to use the courts as their strongest weapon against anyone. Why PMJM appointed

Twisted tale into corruption [Excessive Legal billings and corrupt state officials]

Image
by MELL LAKA The Attorney General is empowered to brief private lawyers/counsel to act for the State. This occurs when there is need for particular expertise or the Attorney General is unable to undertake the work itself. From Finance Department records a Commission of enquiry found that over the period 2000 to 2006 the State incurred liability in payouts of approximately K100 million in legal fees. The Inquiry saw that there has been no compliance with the Public Finances (Management) Act procedures of expenditure for approval prior to engaging in those brief outs. A  Commission of enquiry after making extensive examination of these payments with ready assistance from all the law firms concerned except Paul Paraka Lawyers which has been the recipient of at least the K41 million in brief out fees for January 2003 to August 2006 noted in NEC records.  Let me illustrate what I mean by excessive legal fee with our so called Chief Secretary of the National Government, Mr. Isaac Lupari

FAILED ELECTION

Image
by JAMES MAKOP Less than a week ago I posted an article regarding the deterioration of democracy as we know it in our country. Now the results of the elections are slowly but surely bearing testimony to foul play, rigging and indicative of sinister motives at play. Fellow citizens, we cannot ask for more evidence that what we have now. 1. The Rule of Law no longer applies to Peter O'Neill and his cronies. 2. People who are in positions to make a difference for the better have sold their souls for the proverbial 30 pieces of silver. That includes the Electoral Commissioner, the Police Commissioner, the election managers and returning officers and people down the rank and file. 3. Isaac Lupari had usurped the functions of the election advisory committee and illegally orchestrated the biggest denial of the right to choose elected representatives by citizens. 4. The economy is dysfunctional. Our foreign missions are being boarded up and shut down due non payment of

TARI PORI NUMBERS DONT ADD UP

Image
by GEORGE KERA SMITH It is no surprise James Marape has retain his seat in the Tari Pori electorate. However, given the circumstance surrounding rumors that the elections in Hela has been rigged, there is now evidence surfacing that speaks volumes. Remember, numbers don't lie. Recent interview by James Marape announced on EMTV tonight, he himself claimed that he was declared on 50% majority, to be exact 30,192, which means that the total eligible voters for Tari Pori in this 2017 election was about 60,000 plus. However, looking back on past elections, it appears the numbers don't add up. In 2007, total eligible voters for Tari Pori was 37,473. He scored 6,147 1st pref votes to win (roughly 12% of the voters). In 2012, total voters were 40,039 of which he scored 13,661 of 1st preference votes (34% of the total votes). He went on to win with 18,258 after completion of elimination. From current results, it appears that the total voter population increased by 20,000

WHO IS PETER O'NEILL? FACTS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE MAN

Image
by MICHAEL J. PASSINGAN This article brings to light the dark side and unknown secrets of Peter O'Neill, the Member for Ialibu Pangia Electorate and the Prime Minister of PNG. These uncompromising and compelling truths revealed here might surprise you, but you will not regret that you have discovered the deep secrets of his background and character unknown to the majority of Papua New Guineans and the whole world. During the political impasse since August 2 2011, I have supported the O'Neill/Namah regime against the Somare/Abel regime. The reason of my support was to change Somare’s unpopular regime that was deeply systematic and systemically corrupt. In the process, I admit that our constitution was tempered and violated. Even though our Supreme Court ruled in favour of Somare’s legitimacy, I went at great lengths to argue and support that O'Neill/Namah regime was legitimate. Consequently, the Somare/Abal regime was dethroned and destabilised. They usurped the power

FRIGHTENING GOVERNMENT PERFORMANCE IN 8 KEY AREAS OF THE ECONOMY

Image
NATIONAL BUDGET SPOOKS PRIVATE BUSINESS AND INVESTMENT IN PNG   by WILSON TALAG Economist Paul Flanagan's recent remarks that appeared in PNG Blogs and elsewhere highlight 8 key areas of what looks to be looming financial disaster.  Mr Flanagan's enlightening report is the basis for this discussion and why the performance of each one of the key areas has started to  spook business and investors.  The seriousness of PNG’s current financial situation is becoming very clear.   A little over a week ago the government came very close to failing to come up with the year end public servant pay.  This near disaster occurred despite supplementary budgets designed to avoid such unexpected money shortages.   Another red flag flying high and warning that behind the scenes, PNG's finances are rapidly deteriorating under the O'Neill government. The 8 key areas of concern are (1) Government lies over the actual size and growth of the PNG economy, (2) Discrepancies  ove
