BREAKING NEWS: NEC APPROVES TO REVERT TO FIRST-PAST-THE-POST VOTING SYSTEM FOR 2017 NATIONAL ELECTIONS

Image
by JACK PALME JOHNSON

Prime Minister Peter O’Neill and his heavily corrupt National Executive Council have, on Wednesday 16th December, approved to abolish the Limited Preferential Voting (LPV) System and revert to the old system –First Past the Post. We do not know the reasoning behind this regressive Christmas gift to PNG by the O’Neill Government but well-placed sources confirm the NEC decision.

This decision does not come as a surprise to Papua New Guinea, the land of bountiful tolerance and wilful ignorance. It shouldn’t be surprising at all because O’Neill Government has lost its popularity on all fronts. Economic Mismanagement, Grand Scale Corruption, Evasion, Deception, Lies, and Manipulation are among the outstanding hallmarks of PNC Party and O’Neill Administration.

PM O’Neill himself has the NPF case, the Paraka Case, the UBS Leadership Tribunal and the PNG Power Generators case still hanging over him and yet continues to run this country down. Thanks to our entire cargo c…

BE AN AGENT FOR CHANGE AND CHANGE THIS BAD GOVERNMENT

by YAKAN LEPAKAILI

ACT NOW AND BE AN AGENT FOR CHANGE AND CHANGE THIS BAD GOVERNMENT FOR BETTER PNG - OR RECOVERY ROAD WILL BE LONG, HARD AND TOUGH. BE RESPONSIBLE LEADERS AND DON’T BE IRRESPONSIBLE.

Isaac Lupari (the Chief of Staff to the Prime Minister Peter O’Neil), Dairi Vele (Secretary to Treasury Department) and Loi Bakani (Governor of Central Bank of Papua New Guinea), the trio are highly educated and most learned people in this era. They are of venerating career and distinguished people revered for contributing immensely to the country’s developments.

Given their expertise in the economy, since the down turn of PNG’s economy and its continued downward slide, people like Paul Flanagan of ANU projects the gloomy outlook of PNG’s economy with comprehensive comparative tables and all these analysis never been challenged.

In bewilderment, what’s intriguing is, none of the above trios, in their rebuttals, had the guts to rebut line by line and graph by graph. In Paul…

WHY PETER O'NIELL SHOULD BE WORRIED ABOUT MALCOLM TURNBULL

Image
by GREG POYA

Peter O'Niell should be worried about Australia's new Prime Minister, Mr Malcolm Turnbull.

Papua New Guinea's prime minister has signalled a partial back-down from recent comments that Australian consultants and advisers would be expelled from PNG by the end of the year.

Peter O'Neill announced in July that his government would remove all foreign advisors and consultants from government departments because their presence was making locals lazy.

There were also suggestions that the foreign, mainly Australian, advisers, were spying on his government.
Mr O'Neill now says he prefers a change to contract officers who can be accountable to his government.
He told AAP that his government is not that silly to displace families overnight, and that nobody is being thrown out on the street.

Mr O'Neill says he wants to ensure people assigned to PNG show loyalty to the government and to service.
Australia has 34 public servants on secondment to the PNG …
