HOW 25% OF PORGERA WAS MERGED WITH A K2 COMPANY

Image
By Sam Kaupa WE HAD 25% OF PORGERA IN THE 90s. WE MERGED IT WITH A K2 COMPANY WHICH CREATED PNG FOCUSED AUSTRALIAN OIL AND GAS COMPANY,  OIL SEARCH LTD– AND NOW WE WANT PORGERA BACK AT COST – A TALE SHROUDED IN HIGH LEVEL CORRUPTION AND CONTROVERSY MASTERMINDED BY GREEDY POLITICIANS AND THEIR COHORTS. When our forefathers gained independence in 1975 they established the Mineral Resources Development Company Limited (MRDC) which was 100% owned by the Government of Papua New Guinea. MRDC was incorporated on 27th May 1975 under the Companies Ordinance 1966.  It was not until 1981 that it became fully functional as a company entrusted with the duty to manage mining and petroleum resource equity interests on behalf of the State and Landowners.  It was the ultimate State Nominee to acquire the State and Landowner equity interests in mining and petroleum projects and to manage the equity funds for landowner companies from the major resource development areas of PNG. In 1996 during Sir Julius

A NEW HOPE - ANTI-CORRUPTION CAMPAIGNER TO RUN FOR WESTERN HIGHLANDS GOVERNORSHIP

by LUCAS KIAP Some people are complaining about my everyday devotion on the issues and challenges facing our beloved country and our dear lives. They are growing sick and tired of reading my posts. They want me to shut up for good. They are saying I am a Facebook Governor for Western Highlands province because I have been attracting more followers on Facebook. Some are saying that I am going to be el iminated in the first count. Let me remind you all that I have been writing and advocating against corruption and about the issues affecting the development and progress of the country for the last 20 years since my young days at the University of Technology in 2001. I wish you all know me better; read my mind, hear my heartbeat and feel the flow of blood running through my veins. I wish it is that easy to give up. I wish I could easily forget everything. I wish I could find the courage to shut up and move on with my life. But I can't. Not even for a second. I can&

USE, ABUSE AND DUMP THE O'NEILL WAY, HOW WESTERN HIGHLANDERS ARE BEING PLAYED BY A CUNNING PM

Image
by JAMES YOKA EKIP My name is James Yoka Ekip. I am from Hagen district, Western Highlands Province. I contested the Hagen Open seat in the last election (2012). Below is my opinion of what's happening with the Electoral Commission and the scamming and defrauding of funds from the State. I now see the “writing on the wall” clearly. Peter O’Neil is behind all the dirty politics that has been happening in Western Highlands and Hagen politics. My conclusion and that of most Western Highlanders and Hageners is that Prime Minister Peter O’Neil has created this problem between Mr. Duma and Mr. Wingti and he is using the two leaders against each other. In the process he is finishing both of them. He is talking to one leader and saying one thing and talking to the other leader and blaming that leader for some of his decisions going against that leaders favor. PM blamed Wingti for the none funding of Hagen City Authority in the 2017 national budget and Duma slaps Wingti on the floo

PETER O’NEIL AND GARI BAKI COMBINED TO WRITE A NEW CHAPTER IN THE BRIEF POLITICAL HISTORY OF PNG.

Image
by LEKEM LAKI Papua New Guinea gained independence from the neo-colonial Australian administration in September 16, 1975. Since then, we have had seven Prime Ministers in the likes of Sir Michael Somare, Sir Julius Chan, Sir Rabbi Namaliu, Paias Wingti, Late Bill Skate, Sir Mekere Morauta and the controversial incumbent Peter O’Neil. Under the leadership of previous Prime Ministers, country enjoyed tranquility with transition of changeover of leadership (PM) through political manoeuvre but peacefully and done and dusted in the spirit of the constitution. Never had one time experienced a political coup except the incumbent wrestled and forcefully taken over a legitimate government that of Michael Somare. It is telling the tenacity of the aggression to grip on to power by becoming untouchable by laws of the land. He has written a new chapter in the brief political history of PNG and is typical of a thief and remember this, a thief comes to steal, destroy and kill. Never had one

WINGTI AND PO ARE BIRDS OF LIKE FEATHERS FLOCKING TOGETHER

Image
by CHARLES K MARKOP Politics is an art and if you master it well, you can maximise your gains. The front page coverage by Post Courier, released after 3 weeks of the actual event, tells many stories. Here, former Prime Minister and currently governor of Wester Highlands Province Hon Paias Wingti (PW) is openly commending that Prime Minister Peter O’Neill (PO) is doing well and he (PW) is optimistic about PNGs future under O’Neill’s leadership.  The unholy alliance between PW and PO has a rich history. PO, apart from being a Bill Skate and PNC man, was one of those persons including the Maladinas who lived off Wingti. In 2002, PW orchestrated PO’s first election victory when he (PW) mobilised his men to destroy Roy Yaki’s (MP for Ialibu Pangia at that time) ballot boxes in Nebilyer towards Southern Highlands border.  In the 2012 elections, it is open secret that Ben Micah, through his relative Ken Kaiya (Government Printer), organised extra ballot papers for PW, PO and Mic

The Germination and Spread of Corruption in Papua New Guinea: An Unfortunate Combination of Three Prime Ministers

Image
by A NATIONAL RESEARCH INSITUTE STAFF MEMBER Three Prime Ministers including the Father of PNG, Sir Michael Somare, have, over the past 40 years, effectively congealed to destroy what could have been a bright future and equal opportunity for the people of Papua New Guinea following independence.    As such, the noble ideals articulated by Somare and other members of the legendary Bully Beef Club during their many gatherings prior to Independence, and articulated in the Constitution's Six Directives, were never fulfilled and today are essentially abandoned.     PNG's sad progression downwards has produced its current state of rampant corruption.   Like Nigeria, like Mexico, like Indonesia, all fabulously wealthy nations in terms of natural resources, the wealth has gone nowhere useful in PNG.    PNG drags the bottom in global rankings today in terms of how little meaningful integral human development has occurred for the majority of its population. Thus far, the adv
