HOW O'NEILL MANAGED TO SILENCE AND OVERCOME HIS BIGGEST CRITICS IN THE OPPOSITION

Image
Peter O'Neill has successfully silenced and neutralised three of his biggest and most vocal critics who were in the opposition benches in the previous term of Parliament. With a highly corrupt and heavily manipulated election process, Don Polye stood no chance as O'Neill targeted his Kandep Electorate with very heavy police and military presence during election 2017. The result is that Don Polye was ousted under a questionable election process, the outcome of which is yet to be decided by the courts to this very day. The court process to hand down a decision on the Kandep seat is being unnecessarily delayed and this indicates that the judiciary may not be operating freely from political control and interference. Kandep was one of the seats that experienced violence during the election and how they managed to conclude the election process and declare a winner remains a mystery. Belden Namah and Sam Basil managed to get through the first hurdle by winning t

SO BASIL CLAIMS I'M A LIAR? by BRYAN KRAMER Today the Post Courier published a front page story under the headline "Uproar in the House." The article was in relation to Member of Wau Bulolo and Minister of Communications & Energy Sam Basil's statement (personal explanation) on the floor of Parliament following question time yesterday. Basil's statement was in response to my article published on Facebook in relation to the recent defection of the Member of Wosera-Gawi Open from Opposition to O'Neill Government. An article authored by reporter Jeffrey Elapa, which I'm of the view was biased confirmed by the fact the reporter made no attempt to get my comment to balance the story. The central theme of the article and Basil's statement were expressed in the following terms: 1) Basil: the comments labeling me as “dumb and a stupid member of Parliament”, I felt obliged and convicted to stand up and speak as Mr Kramer’s comments are unaccept

PANGU TO SACK BAKANI AND FREEZE ALL ACCOUNTS UNDER HIM AND ASSOCIATES AT BPNG

by SAM BASIL MP Since the O’Neil PNC government took office five years ago, their mismanagement of the economy has been acknowledged by myself, representing the Opposition, on countless occasions, from the illegal UBS loan and a substantial decrease in  foreign reserves, to the lack of education and health foresight bestowed on Papua New Guineans. The lack of teaching facilities and lack of medicine as well as the manipulation of economic information on the status of our economy, is enough to inform Papua New Guineans that the O’Neil PNC government hasn’t prioritised the welfare of PNG’s population and the economy. Certain public servants are also responsible for their negligence, in conforming to the ill will of the coalition government and one of these public servants is the Governor of the Bank Of PNG (BPNG), Loi Bakani. His recent outrageous comment that the economy shouldn’t be a topic of discussion during the election, can only reflect his guilty conscience when visible

PNG needs maturity in political debates

Image
by PETER S. KINJAP Papua New Guinea has entered the third week of the eight-week election campaign before polling commences next month. Unlike previous elections, this year’s campaign appears not as noisy as in the past. Social media has played an important role in the campaign so far with political parties buying Facebook pages to launch their awareness messages. Almost all the 15 political parties in PNG contesting the election now have a paid Facebook Page. The ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) has reportedly disseminated a lot of information about its polices and continues running social media ads. One of the PNC’s major party platforms is the Free Education policy. As the ruling party, it has implemented and PNG has felt its impact since 2012. Like any other government policy, the PNC free education policy has its weaknesses. In order to defend this policy, party leader and Prime Minister Peter O’Neill said recently he wanted to make the PNC’s free educat

Polye Is But a Sounding Cymbal:

Image
By  Fasa Gima Stanley David I will highlights some very important personal views below and I hope nobody will take my view as political gimmick...well if you do so, it's your right as well as my right of freedom of expression. Firstly , we must know that Ignorance is one of the master killer of life's fabric of connections and survival. Below are some of Polye's ignorances that matters most to us the people that he boostfully represent and connections to his style of leadership (People's Connections to Polye's Leadership) For transparency sake, and as far as I know, let me tell my readers that few of the services delivered by our local MP are devalued and DSIP and Ministerial money were less used and I don't know where DSIP money most went...He was the minister all these 10 donkey years and nothing is shown in Kandep...If Sam Basil, a opposition MP can change Bulolo, whats wrong with our MP...!!? There is nothing that Justifies Mr Polye's existence

What is the real cost of road construction in Papua New Guinea?

Image
by SAM BASIL MP I am sure many Papua New Guineans are asking this very question right now, reason being that there are too many over inflated, over costed and over variated and unnecessary extra costs pinned to road construction here in PNG. Even the national works department staff and engineers and other private engineers have raised their concerns over this issue and the question remains as to; What is the true cost of road construction in PNG. A per kilometre road of; 1. Pilot track (Rural) 2. Gravelled road 3. Sealed bitumen 4. Sealed hot mix bitumen 5. Concrete road Many roads constructed using different road contractors have different costs per km in fact it is so confusing that not body really knows what the real costs of constructing a km of road using different construction material in Papua New Guinea. My enquiries have gathered me some information in regards to road construction using concrete as I can compare the Lae concrete road construction against the Wau

IS DIGICEL RIPPING OFF ITS CUSTOMERS?

Image
by BRYAN KRAMER I have observed countless comments on social media over the past twelve months by individuals accusing Digicel of stealing from them. However they couldn't really explain why or how it was being done. I also noted a number of instances where credits on my own phone seemed to vanish into thin air. So I decided to take time out from my rather busy schedule exposing and deposing corruption of public funds to look into whether there was any truth in the allegations that Digicel has been stealing from it's customers. What I uncovered was quite concerning, rather serious allegations that Digicel has committed deceptive and unfair practice of defrauding it's pre-paid customers who subscribe to their Mobile Data Plan Service. Digicel PNG provides Mobile Data Service to its pre-paid customers. It offers a number of subscription data plans, Data Plan...Data Size.....FEE.....Validity..Keyword...Code....MB Rate Auto Pass.....10MB.......99t........24 Hours..

PETER O'NIELL HAS RAPIDLY DESTROYED PNG

Image
by SAM BASIL MP Low Oil Prices/Stockmarkets Share Prices Plummeting Further Exposing UBS Loan and impact on PNG’s economy As Deputy Opposition Leader (DOL), I have issued several statements about the mismanagement of Papua New Guinea’s (PNG) economy since 2012 by the O’Neill-led government. I have revisited the reality of them in recent days following developments in Bulolo and the Morobe Province in delivery of services to the rural areas. As any elected member of Parliament regardless of party membership, it is our duty to make statements on our directions of PNG and what our future looks like under this PNC-led government. With Parliament member’s silence, they have deliberately exposed PNG to high debt spending with figures now stating that our economy is on the decline and rather than reduce DSIP’s/PSIP’s, they are now thinking of increasing GST, impacting heavily on our citizens; I will not be supporting the Bill, to increase GST/VAT! One specific decision that O’Neill dire

POST ANALYSIS OF THE 2015 PACIFIC GAMES ON PNG'S ECONOMY.

Image
by SAM BASIL MP, Deputy Opposition Leader The Opposition have always been critical of how Papua New Guinea’s (PNG) economy has been financially mismanaged by the O’Neill government and we still believe this, when the 2015 Pacific Games has placed a further financial burden on PNG’s economy. As Deputy Opposition Leader, I do not question that all those associated with the 2015 Pacific Games, held here in PNG, should be acknowledged for a successful event given the short time span to organise; credit must be given to all these professionals, volunteers and sponsors for their commitment and determination. But the reality check needs to occur when the Pacific Games have left PNG’s shores and we are reminded about the recession we are currently in, and the loans that the O’Neill government have exposed PNG to; both issues will be strongly denied by the O’Neill government through their media propaganda announcements. What the O’Neill government won’t tell you, is that most major s

Villagers offered payout over gold mine pollution

LIAM FOX, ABC Sediment from a gold mine washing down a river in Papua New Guinea has destroyed the livelihoods of thousands of villagers. The Hidden Valley mine, which is half-owned by Melbourne-based Newcrest Mining and South African miner Harmony, is offering compensation to those affected. Some villagers are eager to take what is on offer, but others are not rushing to sign up. Michael Ansu's life in the village of Witipos, next to the Watut River in PNG's Morobe province, began to change in 2006 - that's when Morobe Mining Joint Ventures (MMJV) began building its gold mine upriver. Now, his livelihood is ruined. "The sediment destroyed our garden, destroying our water, our drinking water. We have no fish in our water," he said. The silt choking the river has also crippled the important local industry of small-scale alluvial gold mining. Even the course of the Watut River has changed in places. MMJV accepts sediment washed by rain into the river during th
