Defective Rationale of Mercenary Lawyers

In a recent email exchange between me and a lawyer for the ONamah “govt”, I came to realise the rationale behind the “govt’s” lawyers in carrying out, in almost a blank robotic devoid-of-conscience manner, their clients’ instructions. Two significant perceptions were revealed in the email exchanges There are lessons here for this election period: 1.       The Elected leaders are the ONLY people mandated to think up and decide what is in the nation’s “BEST INTEREST”. I was scolded because I was putting forward my opinions on what’s best for PNG, when I had NO MANDATE to decide. That disqualifies YOU and me, and EVERY ONE else who is NOT an elected leader, from thinking up and deciding what is the Nation’s best interest. So we’re all wasting our time discussing and debating on Sharp Talk or anywhere else right? This is an amazing perspective that this lawyer has. We are expected to be blind citizens, blind public servants, devoid of any independent ability to assess whether an act or omi

Consumption threat to vulnerable species: study

SYDNEY — The developed world's insatiable appetite for products like coffee and timber is threatening the survival of one in three vulnerable animal species in poor countries, according to an Australian study. Academics at the University of Sydney spent five years tracking the world economy, evaluating over five billion supply chains connecting consumers to over 15,000 commodities produced in 187 countries. They particularly focused on the global trade of goods implicated in biodiversity loss such as coffee, cocoa, and lumber, with the data cross-referenced with a global register of 25,000 vulnerable species. The study, which was published in the scientific journal Nature, concluded that international trade chains can accelerate degradation in locations far removed from where the product is bought. "Until now these relationships have only been poorly understood," said lead author Manfred Lenzen, from the university's Integrated Sustainability Analysis group. "Our

Fraudster Jimmy Maladina running for Alotau open seat despite protest

JIMMY Maladina will contest the Alotau open seat despite a protest by sitting MP Charles Abel that he is not a resident. Returning officer Thomas Pilai said Maladina declared himself during his nomination last month that he was a resident of Alotau by filing the necessary documents. “He filled out the declaration forms that he has lived in that electorate for five years and I have no right to dispute that. “I tried to explain to him but he told me that it was his constitutional right,” Pilai said. “We had a lengthy discussion in the presence of other electoral officers and police officers.” He said all concerned parties, including Abel, would have the opportunity to challenge Maladina in court should he win the seat. Pilai said a report on the matter has been given to the Electoral Commissioner Andrew Trawen when the Alotau electoral team was in Port Moresby last week to deliver the nomination forms. Alotau election manager Dadu Daga said he was aware of Abel’s protest. The Nation

THE REALITY AS OPPOSED TO THE RAMBLINGS OF THE NAMELESS NIHILISTS.

JOHN FOWKE May I issue a challenge to “: Kkingsley” and other well-spoken but  overly rancorous, nameless “Oz-ophobes”? Those young men whose plangent but puerile verbal torrents seem always follow my own occasional and humble contributions? The effort which Terry puts into the maintenance of this always-interesting and very worthwhile blog deserves opinion-pieces and responses which are both relevant and telling, rather than mindlessly bombastic and unreasoned. Please do respond, ol pikinini nogat nem, with due consideration and in a reasonably temperate manner, setting out some of your own well-considered  solutions for PNG’s obviously-pressing problems as opposed to relentless criticism and cheap, usually silly point-scoring. Lets use this blog as a platform for debate and the development of worthwhile movement and the fostering of a fairer, better share for all PNG’ans in their common-wealth and common welfare. May I suggest to you all that Australia has been a humane and unusually
