10,000 Ballot Papers Discovered in Madang By-Election

Image
The declaration of the Madang By_Election has come under a shadow of uncertainty after 10,000 valid ballot-papers were discovered by candidates. The discovery now confirms the candidates suspicious all along that the integrity of the Madang By-Election had been compromised The candidates first raised their concerns when the Returning Officer Adolf Duangha refused to disclose the serial numbers of the ballot-papers both during the polling period and counting process. It is standard procedure and practice in elections that serial numbers of used /unused ballot-papers were provided to scrutineers. This information is vital to ensure proper scrutiny over the process.  Such practices affirm the principles of democratic elections prescribed by Section 126 (Elections) of the Constitution are observed and upheld. Further disclosure of such information is a mandatory right under Section 51 (freedom to information) of the Constitution. This was later confirmed by Mr. Trawen in writing. Further i

BUILDING THE FOUNDATION AND DIRECTING THE FUTURE OF PAPUA NEW GUINEA

Image
By THEDORE ZURENUOC, PNG Parliament Speaker I would like to take this opportunity to inform the people of Papua New Guinea about the Reformation, Restoration and Modernization program that is taking place at the National Parliament, which has been partly reported by some sections of the mainstream media. When Parliament elected me to the Speaker’s chair last year, I inherited a house that had lost its dignity, integrity, respect and reverence. The Parliament had become a house riddled with rotten administrative systems and processes that urgently needed reformation and restoration, and modernization to bring it up to international standards. Since Parliament stands as a symbol of collective wisdom and the pinnacle of political decision-making in which noble dreams of great men and women have been, and will continue to be, translated into reality through legislation that will transcend to the Executive, Judiciary and the rest of society, it needed the reformation, restoration and modern

The Sacrilege of Parliament & the Demarcation between State & Religion

Image
By GABRIEL RAMOI The sacrilege committed by Theo Zurenouc  in destroying work of Art by PNG Master Carvers  displayed in Parliament is akin to Pope Fransis ordering the destruction of the  work of Art by Michael Angelo in the Sistine Chapel. The idea that by removing this works of Art , Parliament  and the Body Politics of PNG will be cleansed  from  Dark  Pagan  Forces  associated with this body of Art Work is a misguided attack  on our  aesthetic past that has helped define us as a people.  The sacrilege to parliament is  based on the interpretation  of the  Christian Covenant  in the new testament bible  with the Semitic  God of the old testament Bible and  that there can be no worship of  idols  but that of the  one true God Yahweh . That this  idea forms the Fundamental Philosophical and moral basis upon which Modern PNG is constructed upon and must be held on to the exclusion of any other belief system to give meaning and Christian purpose to our Modern Government is erroneous.

Papua New Guinea’s Sir Nagora Bogan will determine outcome of the trial of University of Technology Vice Chancellor Albert Schram

Image
Meet Sir Nagora Bogan, Chancellor of the PNG University of Technology (Lae) and head of the UniTech governing council. We have investigated Sir Nagora.  He has a respectful record of service as a former ambassador to the USA and serves on the boards of many PNG institutions, often as chairman.   Having lived abroad for years, Sir Nagora seems to understand that universities only become national treasures if they are corruption free and compete successfully on the global playing field.   Sir Nagora gives the impression of an ethical man unafraid of taking whatever action is needed to straighten out organisational messes.  His credentials and power automatically make him the captain of TEAM GOOD on the UniTech council. CAPTAIN OF TEAM GOOD:  NAGORA BOGAN OTHER LIKELY TEAM GOOD MEMBERS:   Mr Alan McLay, Dr Ken Ngangan and Mr Joseph Hamylton.   Also voting representatives of the UniTech National Staff Association as well as the Student Representative Council and the Acting VC of UniTech, P

Universities in PNG managed only by the best can survive in the competitive real world.

By PNG FIRST UPNG and Unitech have been falling backwards for many years.  Divine Word passed up these 2 government unis long ago.  The reason is obvious.  DWU president comes from European culture and DWU is run more like a foreign uni.  It doesn’t matter if Father Jan Czuba is a citizen or not. He grew up overseas and manages in a way the rest of the world aspires to. He has a European concept of time and in making decisions that look at long term needs. The way Father Czuba runs Divine Word is the way all PNG unis should be run.  At the moment our two government universities have management system mostly run by nationals. You can see the difference right way both these unis are rundown.  University of Goroka shows better influence than Unitech or UPNG but still far behind DWU.  The corruption at the government universities has created moral problems, rundown infrastructure and bad education for students.  We have a problem with the concept of maintenance in PNG that is mostly absent
