By PNGBLOGS A Fundamental Truth About Activism The title of this article is nothing more than the most famous statement ever made by Margaret Mead.   Mead was a well known American anthropologist who carried out research in the Trobriands and on Manus.  She was not an activist by profession, yet she is best remembered for this statement.   It not only explains in a nutshell how change takes place in the world, but inspires thoughtful, committed citizens to stop being passive observers and start taking charge.   Abundant examples of injustice and genocide throughout the world over the centuries should make it clear to us all that God Himself does not bring change to our world.  That is why sitting back and leaving everything in the hands of God has always been a recipe for disaster.  Instead, history teaches us that God gave us freedom to do what we wanted and and intelligent brains to control our destiny.  Sitting back and whinging achieves nothing.  Only persistent activism as practic

By TUGIRI REIDA The government of PNG has demonstrated that it is incapable of safeguarding the funds of Non CMCA villages’(South Fly affected villages who didn’t sign the CMCA Agreement) being part of the compensation moneys paid by BHP/Oktedi, as a direct result of the Court case in Melbourne by Fly River Landowners.  Certain funds being dividends from Oktedi were parked as part of the compensation package for the Environmental destruction in two trust accounts (totalling several hundred Million Kina) under the principal care of the Governor of Western Province Hon. Ati Wobiro and the Secretary for Department of Mines and Geo-hazards, Mr. Shadrach Himata. By SAMUEL MAGIRI Hardly any talented European comes to our university and we struggled for more than a year to bring back damn good VC Albert Shram. Today Unitech is a dark room with no air movement only Shram can unlock this place and make it move again. 1.     Government made a mediation report in 2012 and Sevua report in 2013 and nothing was found wrong with Shram. An innocent man but Minister Arore says he will not let Shram back because of national security concern and instability.  This doesn’t fit the black and white facts- Unitech students are fine when Shram was here. The only instability incidents were 1) when ex chancellor Phillip Stag illegally tried to run Shram off campus in middle 2012 and students chased off Stagg, 2) when government illegally kept Shram from re-entering PNG in December 2012 and we boycotted.
