by PETER LASKA Thank you PNG Blogs for providing the space for people like me to share some thoughts on the 2016 JUSTICE FOR PNG SAGA.  What I want to write about is what many UPNG students seem to be thinking at the moment.   Those of us who completed their university studies years ago are much wiser today than when we were doing our studies.  We were very idealistic and optimistic.  You might also say that at that age our lack of experience also made us very naïve.   I remembered that today when a friend told me that UPNG students seriously believe that if they push again and again, the PM will finally give in and accept their petition in person.  These conscientious, caring young peole also think that the PM will think about the petition and as the boycott continues, will decide to honour the student demand and step down.    What naïve thoughts!  The students optimism is wonderful to see but once they see for themselves that their optimism is in error, they might well go

by MICHAEL J PASSINGAN SECURITY DETAIL The Security of the Prime Minister of any country should be concern for the citizens of that country and PNG should not be an exception. Prime Ministers do have a security detail. To my knowledge, prior to August 2011, all the Prime Ministers that PNG had had their security detail. At the most, there would be 5 members of the National Security Unit (NSU) of the Police who would provide security to the Prime Minister. At other times (usually), around two or three officers who would be accompanying the Prime Minister. Since the issuance of the arrest warrant against Peter O’Neill, his personal security detail had been boosted to five (5) unmarked Toyota land cruisers on average for the last two years. I am reliably told by one of those persons that this around-the-clock protection to Prime Minister O’Neill is offered, not only by the members of the NSU, but other police officers and PNG Defence members. by JAMES PERAKIN Gari Baki has become dangerous and destructive to the establishment of the Police Force under the Constitution.  His latest move to file an affidavit in support of an application by controversial and corrupt judge Sakora is a testament to his erratic and dangerous behaviour. Under the Constitution, the Police primary function is to arrest and lay charges against criminals. What Gari Baki is doing is to prevent the arrest and charging of criminals. by KEALI POKA Papua New Guineans are genuinely informed that contempt charges regarding non-compliance of the National and Supreme Court Orders were served on Police Commissioner Gari Baki and he refused to accept it.  However, Mathew Damaru had it successfully served on Mr. Baki's lawyer. Baki's other rogue officers in the likes of David Manning, Samson Kua and Jim Andrews have had their Court Orders served already on them. These rogue police officers will have their field day at the courts and justice will decide where they stand and what they should do and should not do. Analysis By Denny Nataki Yesterday the Prime Minister carefully chose his words to construct a convincing lie. He did not demand students to go back to class. He asked him nicely to go back to class. by UPNG ACADEMIC   UPNG Vice Chancellor Albert Mellam says that if the boycott of classes continues, that the UPNG 2016 academic school year will be terminated and students will be sent home. Vice Chancellor, some of us are growing very tired of your constant evading of the truth.  But we will not let you tell the students lies.  It is time that everything gets put on the table. Students, hear this:   at the rate the government has been supplying the university with funds, UPNG has no idea right now how they can stay open in Semester 2.  This is Peter O’Neill’s fault, but Albert Mellam is now trying to shift the blame to you students.   Mellam hopes that Peter O’Neill will pat him on the back for a job well done and maybe promise him more dormitories.   UPNG is not receiving the promised 2016 budget allocation even though the money promised in 2016 was already a reduction from 2015.  The government is dead broke and things are going to get worse in June.  If that is the
