Former Prime Minister Sir Mekere Morauta today again rebutted the Prime Minister’s claims about PNG Sustainable Development Program Ltd and his chairmanship. Former Prime Minister Sir Mekere Morauta today announced that he had nominated as a candidate for the seat of Moresby North-West. “I nominated this morning as an independent candidate,” he said. “My decision is based on widespread public support for me to use my experience and knowledge to help put Papua New Guinea back on track and help form a new Government that will act decisively to implement plans to rescue and rebuild the country. “It appears to me and other like-minded people that there is a strong desire for change in Papua New Guinea and I want to be part of that change. I want my vote in Parliament to be counted. I want to be part of the rescue team to reconstruct and lay the foundation for future growth and development.” Sir Mekere said if elected he and other independent candidates and small parties will join forces to ensure that the best Government with the best leadership is formed after the election. Those who escaped successfully are living miserable lives. School aged children’s lives and education are continuously being deprived while living an asylum’s life.  All these are happening right under watchful eyes of John Pundari, not to mention his strongholds from whom he seek advice.  I cannot be complacent this time any more. Incident 1 Sat 22/April: Mr Pakop sent a group of Taurama based soldiers to 8 mile where I have a solid base of approx 10,000 to 12,000 confirmed eligible voters and falsely acuse my Election Chairman & my 8 mile youths of assaulting a Taurama based soldier on Friday at Block 2. They specifically mentioned the name of my chairman and his vehicle registration number. It was obvious these were rented soldiers who were paid by Powes - he was annoyed by the fact that when he sent in 4 x buses to pick up my voters on Thursday for his nomination, no one jumped on the buses. All 4 x buses left 8 mile settlement empty. The soldiers were armed when they put up a huge poster of Powes at the main 8 mile junction. My 8 mile youths pulled down the poster under the cover of darkness. The soldiers went into OK5 settlement at 8 Mile block 2 (Eastern Highlands, Enga and Simbu settlers) in two (2) fully loaded vehicles and demanded the settlers plus my chairman to compensate the sup
