28 MAY - NEWS FLASH! PARLIAMENT PASSES BILL STOPPING LANDOWNERS INTERFERING WITH DEVELOPING PROJECTS


This just came from scribes in Parliament:
Parliament has just passed a new law stopping landowners from interfering with developing companies like Ramu Nickel and LNG. This effectively stops landowners from expressing how they feel about developing projects.

Ten from the Opposition voted against it. Seventy three voted for it.

    Fight for what is yours, repel the invader and tell them to leave peacefully, if peaceful means are not met, I say raise an army and remove them chumps...

    I agree with you that whatever resource that is on this land belongs to the people!! That is very correct indeed. And don't you also agree that the PEOPLE have given their mandate through their elected member to make decisions on their behalf? One of them is to make legislation changes to benefit not only the so called land or resource owners but for the good of the whole nation. What happened to the Melanesian way of sharing in the whole community instead of the opposite?

PASSINGAN In a significant setback for Mineral Resources Development Corporation (MRDC), the Supreme Court of Papua New Guinea has dismissed the company's appeal to stop criminal investigations into its dealings with landowner funds held in the Pacific Balance Fund (PBF). The court ruled that MRDC's appeal was an "abuse of process" and ordered the company to pay costs of the proceedings. MRDC, a unit holder in PBF, had taken legal action against the National Court's decision to dismiss its case, arguing that the court had no jurisdiction to hear the matter. However, the Supreme Court disagreed and held that MRDC's appeal was nothing more than an attempt to interfere with the police's criminal investigative process. They have given approval for the STATE of Papua New Guinea to sign away all gold rights to an Australian paper company in Refinery Holdings PTE LTD.
