NGO and TI to push for dialogue, leaders call for traditional Melanesian mediation

Papua New Guinea created history yet again today, when Parliament suspended the Governor General Sir Michael Ogio, for refusing to swear-in Peter O'Neil, as Prime Minister.The O'Neil Cabinet met after lunch today, deciding on the fate of the G-G and then went ahead with the decision, after Parliament resumed, this afternoon.The Governor-General was summoned this morning by Parliament to swear in Mr O'Neil at around two o'clock, but he refused saying, he only recognizes the Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare, as the legitimate Prime Minister.Speaker of Parliament, Jeffery Nape, will now be the acting Governor-General, with all likelihood of him swearing-in Peter O'Neil, as the Prime Minister.

Well known Activist, Noel Anjo tells PNGFM that they will be peacefully gathering at Waigani today to petition the Governor General Sir Michael Ogio to immediately intervene into the current political crises and immediately call for the two current Prime Ministers to come together in Parliament and vote in a new Government in the interest of the 7 million people of this country.

Mr Anjo says the only person to correct this crisis in the Governor General at the Government House and he must NOW TAKE A STRONG STANCE now for the benefit of all the anxious men, women and children of PNG. He adds that it has been 3 days now and the country has 2 Prime Ministers, who seem to be both legal at this stage, two Police Commissioners and 2 sets of cabinet, which not reflect the interest of all Papua New Guineans.

The court ruled that MRDC's appeal was an "abuse of process" and ordered the company to pay costs of the proceedings. MARAPE & PAITA ABOUT TO SIGN AWAY PNG GOLD
