Meanwhile, police are providing security at several government institutions, including putting up random road blocks and routine patrols in the city.

Suspened GG signed army
callout
for 3 months,
 Military not interested
Sir Michael Ogio, suspended by the parliament elected prime minister Peter O'Neil, has signed instruments for a military call out.The call out is for three months. But our political reporter says that whether the call out will be implemented or not is another question.Belden Namah, the Deputy Prime Minister in the O'Neill camp says the call out will not be honoured. The instructions for the call out reportedly came from the court restored prime minister Sir Michael Somare's national executive council. That National Executive Council held an urgent meeting yesterday evening and called on the national security council to convene a meeting to consider this request. The national security council however reportedly declined the request.According to inside sources this forced the Somare camp to go ahead and instruct Sir Michael Ogio to sign the instruments today to effect the call out.

The Churches are still trying to get Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare and Peter O'Neill to a round table conference.A meeting is reportedly underway now, where the two leaders are expected to attend. One of the Churches' representatives, Reverend Joseph Walters, says they have made contact with leaders in the Somare camp, including Southern Highlands Governor, Anderson Agiru and Madang Regional M-P, Sir Arnold Amet. They have assured them that they will get the Grand Chief to attend, while the Attorney General in the O'Neill camp, Dr. Allan Marat has assured the Church leaders he'll try to get to Mr. O'Neil and see if he can also attend. The Churches have taken it upon themselves to provide a platform to get the two leaders to a roundtable conference to solve the current political impasse. They say being the voice and the mouthpiece of the 6-point-5 million Papua New Guineans, they have made it their business to ensure there's reconciliation so that the ordinary Papua New Guineans are not unnecessarily penalized.

The people of East Pomio in East New Britain have declared their full support and allegiance with the O'Neill-Namah government. The declaration was made in Kokopo today by community leader, Bernard ToVatoge who told NBC news he represented the majority people of East Pomio, who have withdrawn their support for their Member, Paul Tiensten.Mr.Tiensten is the centre of an investigation into corruption and misappropriation of millions of kina for the state and the people of Papua New Guinea.Mr.ToVatoge said his people are supporting and siding with the government of Peter O'Neill, a decision which they have taken against corrupt leadership and misappropriation of public funds at the national level.Mr.ToVatoge said he will be mobilizing all the citizens of Pomio, including East Pomio which is the stronghold of Mr.Tiensten, to petition for the O'Neill government to speed up the investigation into corruption and mismanagement of funds by the Special Task Force Sweep.Meanwhile, he said Pomio people are challenging the Somare government faction to prove its legitimacy as the recognized group to be in government on the floor of the national parliament.

More than 50 people staged a protest march around the streets of Mt Hagen yesterday with slogans "Let O'Neil-Namah government reign. Most of the protesters who were from the remote district of Jimi said the O'Neill led government has started to make impact in the lives of the people in the rural areas with its policies, including the recently handed down 10 billion Kina 2012 National Budget.Team leader Simon Yambe says within the short period the O'Neill government was in power, prices of basic goods and services including rice, have reasonably dropped and this had given hope to the majority of the people who live in the rural areas.Mr Yambe says the government's free education policy has also given a big confidence to parents of children who attend school. All the protesters painted their face in black ash as a sign of mourning for the country during this current political turmoil.
