Arise O Ye Sons of this Land! RAUSIM DEVEL While There’s Still A Chance For Justice in PNG

By M Korua

Never for a moment think that the devil doesn’t come in disguise, offering attractive lollies to join his side.  Never believe that he can’t find supporters to cry his pretend name with reverence.  Don’t think he can’t easily sway people with material temptations.   That is the devil’s power.  But anyone who possesses a soul and blocks their minds to the devils superficial propaganda and temptations will see the truth.  The reason why the devil rules PNG today in one form or another is due to continued public ignorance and the inability to resist superficial temptation.

Peter O’Neill is the master of offering devilish lollies.  He offers FREE HEALTH CARE in thousands of rural aid posts containing either no medicine or counterfeit drugs to treat the dying.  He offers FREE EDUCATION to all young people in overflowing classrooms with no books or other resource materials, and sometimes no teachers.   The devil’s FREE HEALTH and FREE EDUCATION programme has become an obscenity to rural people in PNG.   He brings lollies that glitter on the surface but have nothing inside: FREE access to no medicine and FREE access to a poor education.   Only the ignorant haven’t figured that out.

PNG’s devil destroyed the best hope ever for PNG to use its LNG money wisely to achieve nearly permanent wealth like Norway has done.  That once in a million opportunity was lost forever the moment Peter O’Neill pushed aside the Sovereign Wealth Fund to borrow billions using future LNG gas revenue as collateral. Such instant gratification is typical of Satan and it killed the Fund.   Now as long as LNG flows, PNG’s future leaders won’t save a toea.  They’ll follow Peter O’Neill's lead and borrow, borrow, borrow.  Much of the borrowed money will go into corrupt pockets rather than delivering goods and services.   Future PNG governments will pay foreign banks billions in interest on all the borrowed money, giving billions to the foreign banks.  Cronies of future PM’s will continue pocketing tens of millions of kina in middleman fees each time a new loan is negotiated on behalf of the government.   It will be the Paul Paraka story over and over again.  But our PNG devil isn’t worried.  He knows that most Papua New Guineans can’t even pronounce Sovereign Wealth Fund, much less explain it.

Peter O’Neill’s is taking over the Ok Tedi Sustainable Development Programme because the devil knows what a cash cow it was.   Those who support this devil don’t bother to find out what the well managed PNGSDP was accomplishing before O’Neill destroyed it-far more than the government ever will.  The devil doesn’t care if Ok Tedi’s billions will bring sustainable development or is wasted.  All he cares about is finding the cash needed to buy the 2017 election.  With Ok Tedi money, the devil can  follow the same strategy of 2012, when he and equally devilish Don Polye put PNG K500 million into instant debt through their sneaky “supplementary budget”.  That money, borrowed just before the election, is long gone, leaving behind the taxpayer’s burden of paying it all back + interest.   And how did the devil use K500 million to buy the 2012 election?   By sending that money out to electoral districts, especially to his candidates!  Yes, lots of money but no acquittals required, no planning or sustainability needed, and hardly any lasting development to show for it.   Heaps of construction machinery bought with that money already broken down, along with collapsing roads that were quickly pushed into the bush. Hastily thrown together community buildings are already falling apart.  All the food and beer from the big feasts quickly turned into pisspiss and pekpek.  It didn’t matter. These devilish temptations achieved their objective:  to drown out competing candidates who perhaps were trying to speak truths instead of buying votes.   Ignorant people only see the devil’s attractive gifts.  The devil expects to use the general strategy of 2012 to buy the 2017 election.

Peter O’Neill supporters love and welcome these devilish temptations.  They cry about all the development he is bringing, closing their eyes to the obvious fact that the promise of LNG money and indebtedness, not Peter O’Neill, is bringing more government activities.  The signs of flashy development are either mostly borrowed or comes from foreign investments that behind the scenes result in billions of kina leaving the country and into the pockets of happy people overseas.  The only thing devil O’Neill had to do to bring all this “development” was let Exxon Mobil, Oil Search and Interoil do whatever they wanted. He lets foreign investors declare no profits every year, pay no taxes, then send as much money out of PNG as they want.  No hard work involved allowing any of that.  But the resulting national debt and flood of money out of PNG now threatens the kina.  The Bank of PNG is artificially propping it up but don’t have the foreign currency reserves to stay with that strategy for long.   The devil’s supporters either close their eyes or are ignorant to why the kina collapsed under Bill Skate, back when Peter O’Neill was stealing from NPF.

Some social media channels would like everyone to believe that our PNG devil has no support.  Yet the devil and his supporters point proudly to the people rallying behind the devil to show their commitment to him and the Government. They don't want to lose this devil that has given so many presents to the people.

A reader’s comment on pngblogs yesterday noted that Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini, fascist leaders against humanity during World War II, brought big development to their countries.   Most wasn’t their doings but that didn’t stop them from taking all the credit just like O’Neill does.  Fortunately for humanity, history judges leaders first on their ethics and secondly on the development they bring.  Evilness does not escape notice.

Supporters of the devil will usually admit that the devil might not be very nice but they’ll strongly argue that at least the devil gets things done.

Maybe so.  But there is no argument that Peter O’Neill has never given the people of PNG a clear explanation on exactly how he got off the hook in the NPF saga when there was clear paper evidence against him.

There is no argument that:

*  Peter O’Neill illegally, blatantly ignored the highest Court of the land in order to depose PM Michael Somare.

* the 2007 election had unprecedented irregularities ranging from the almost laughable voter roll fiasco, to the ballot box stuffing or emptying in different elections and of course, the hundreds of milions of kina of free lollies delivered thanks to the K500 in borrowed money.

*  until yesterday, Peter O’Neill did nothing to explain why he seemed to be doing absolutely nothing to stop the unprecedented grab of over 10% of all of PNG’s lands through the SABL process, with all the timber being cut on that land generating not one toea for the government or the local landowners.

*  Peter O’Neill dragged his feet endlessly about the scandal of Paul Paraka and the stolen hundreds of millions of kina that O’Neill was involved with as Finance Minister under Somare.

*  Peter O'Neill, as a castaway bastard child growing up in Goroka, sent the PNG University of Technology into a year of chaos in order to help ex-Chancellor Philip Stagg, his corrupt Goroka schoolmate of years past.

* Peter O’Neill loves living on borrowed money to the point that the exploding national debt now threatens the value of the kina.  He started with the K6 billion Chinese government LOAN (not foreign aid!) that was supposed to be used to build permanent rural roads but has been mostly diverted to Moresby.

Yes, there are no arguments to be made against these and many more sins of our PNG devil.
The devil’s supporters also can’t argue that Peter O’Neill has worked for truth and justice.   Right now he’s working overtime on his endless legal delay tactics to keep the truth from coming out on his relationship with Paul Paraka and the stolen hundreds of millions.    Peter O’Neill, the devil in disguise, has tried to circumvent justice since at least the days of his NPF embezzlements.

We will never see real justice under the devil.  We will only see justice in PNG when:

*  the devil stops playing games with the rural people of this country with his deceptive FREE EDUCATION and FREE HEALTH programmes that so far have created zero improvement in literacy or mortality rates.

*  the Ombudsman and ICAC get the huge funding increase they need to get the job done.

*  Peter O’Neill stops blocking the very anti-corruption task force whose accomplishments have been published repeatedly in the newspapers, and who Peter O’Neill repeatedly praised until yesterday.  The devil promised that he would be accountable to their investigations just like anyone.  Now the devil suddenly says the Task Force has become political and has disbanded them!

We will only see justice when the people of PNG stop acting like the simple minded female bird of paradise so easily blinded by the male’s colourful feathers and deafened by his wah wah wah cries of enticement.  Our PNG devil Peter O’Neill wah wah wahs DEVELOPMENT!  FREE HEALTH!  FREE EDUCATION! slogans.  The simple minded are fooled.

Peter O’Neill is the devil in disguise.  If you look past the lollies and peer into his soul, you’ll find a ruthless, womanising, alcoholic who has never stopped looking for ways to increase his own personal wealth. Peter O’Neill’s soul is permeated by lust and greed.   He is evil. And ignorant or equally devilish people will continue to support him.

Arise O Ye Sons Of This Land!  Educated, hardworking, honest Papua New Guineans who have a brain, join together and free ourselves of this devil!
