The man in the forefront of investigations against the Prime Minister, Assistant Commissioner Police Crimes, Thomas Eluh, has been suspended from office.

Effective as of this evening, no reasons have been given as to why Eluh was suspended.
A-C-P Eluh was served his suspension by Chief Superintendent Jerry Frank this evening, signed by Acting Deputy Police Commissioner Operations, Jim Andrews.

This is despite an order by the National Court directing that the status quo remains, in that Acting Police Commissioner, Geoffrey Vaki, should not in any way interfere with Eluh nor his team of investigators looking into the Paul Paraka case.

Mr. Eluh described his suspension as a blatant breach of the court process, adding it is a sad day for Papua New Guinea.

"This is a sad day for the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary and the country as a whole.
"It is to me, in my view, 'the Constabulary has been sold to the dogs'.
"People who are rich, people who are powerful are now in control of the police.
"So, this is a very sad case for the whole of our country in terms of democracy.
"And I appeal to the rest of our people, the good people I have receive information and support from, even though I am suspended, the team still continues.
"We will continue to investigate until those involved must be brought to justice.
"The suspension has not in any way stopped us from investigations. We will continue to investigate."
Meantime, Mr. Eluh has re-iterated his call for Prime Minister Peter O' Neil to go to court and clear his name instead of trying to justify himself in the media.
"What is it that is making it hard for our good Prime Minister to turn up and be answerable to the law like everybody else?

"To go to the media and try to clear himself is not the right forum.
"He needs to go to court and clear himself like everybody else.
"And here I stand, a very senior officer in almost 40 years of police service with a lot of experience, I've been suspended.
"My God! God help Papua New Guinea."
