Isaac Lupari has no legacy

By Wabag Observer

I have been reading some of the comments made by Isaac Lupari in his capacity as Chief of Staff in his attempt in pleasing his boss, Prime Minister Peter O’Neill. In my view Lupari is making a fool of himself as he is not playing his game according to set protocols. In other words, he is accusing politicians on important national issues which are not appropriate. He should leave politics to the politicians to deal with issues of national importance. He is only a support staff and he has no legal basis to accuse senior politicians.

When Mr Lupari was appointed heads of several government departments on acting basis, he has not been able to keep his appointments for more than six months. For example Lupari was Acting Secretary for Finance & Treasury for six months, he was appointed Acting Secretary for Defence for three months, he was Acting Secretary for Works for two months, he was Acting Secretary for Public Services for another two months, he was appointed PNG’s Ambassador to Brussels for three months and he recalled and he was appointed Chief Secretary. He served as Chief Secretary for two months when he got sacking for reasons known to himself.

What we see is Lupari has never held any of the top positions for more than 12 months thus he has never performed to prove himself that his was a performer with natural ability to do so. He was a failure and PNG and its people know him well beyond doubt. He was also deeply implicated in the Finance inquiry and he has serious credibility issues and his standing in the public service has been tarnished.

Lupari is making a lot of noises with the current government thus it is enormously an embarrassment for a support staff to wear a politician’s hat and start accusing politicians whom he cannot match with his characteristics.

I would recommend O’Neill to appoint Lupari as a nominated member of parliament and once done, appoint him as a Minister for Economic affairs of PNG. This is what he wants and PM should read his language.
