I SERVED MY COUNTRY, I NOW WANT TO SERVE MY PEOPLE OF MADANG

by JERRY SINGIROK MBE, DMS.

I was born and raised on Karkar Island and went to Asaroka Lutheran High School then to Sogeri Senior High and joined to the PNGDF despite being accepted to read Law at UPNG in 1975.
I graduated as a Second Lieutenant in 1976 and joined the infantry corps spending all my first 18 years in the field.

I served overseas as an exchange officer with USA Military in 1982 with British Army on 1984 and seconded to the Australian Army in 1991-93. I had travelled extensively.

In between I graduated in Military Arts and Science and a graduate of Australian Management Institute and undergraduate of Southern Cross University for an MBA.

For my thesis I successfully completed my thesis on Military and it's application in International Relations and Diplomacy. I was posted to the Land Warfare Centre Canungra Qld as a leading instructor in Military Mobilisation in times of conflict and maneuver warfare in 1992-83.
I was a Visiting Fellow at ANU in 2004 at the Asia Pacific Studies Centre.

At the age of 38 I was appointed Commander PNGDF in 1995. I opposed the government use of Sandline Mercenaries to open Paguna Mine and in doing so ended my meteoric rise and prestige in the military and succumb to an ordinary life . I was awared by the Queen MBE and DMS for my Services to the country. I set up my own Risk and Security Consultancy Company and became a leading consultant for government and private sector.

When I was a junior military officer I blessed my parents by building them a modern house on Karkar Island with water and electricity and then built another house for my family. In between breaks I planted over 1000 coconut palms and equal number of coco trees and a copra drier. Today we are blessed with additional income from the sale of Copra and cocoa.

I built another house in Central Province as I married to a Central lady. I have since planted over 8,000 Moringa trees which supplements our living. As building is my hobby, I built a three bedroom house at Rempi NCR Madang and reside there in Madang today.

I am running for Madang Regional Seat in 2017 General Elections under the Pangu flagship with the endorsement of the Pangu National Executives.

I put up my hands to run this year GE, as PNG is fast becoming a failed state due to lack of honest and accountable leadership . Our local economy is shrinking and foreign investment is increasing and our people have been marginalized.

Poverty had eaten the fabrics of our people and they're living conditions is not fit for human beings.
Our national security including border security is pathetic and justice for our people not guaranteed. As Chairman of Guns Control in 2005 Guns remain the single biggest hindrance to development.
Our education system is clogged and suffocating and has no future.

I believe that as many of my colleague Generals in the Commonwealth are called for higher calling in their respective countries, my time has come for me to reinvest my field experience and academic standing to render my services to the nation by serving by beloved people of Madang Province.
I am a devoted Christian and an Elder in my Church and faith. I am a family man and live a simple and modest private life.

I do not consume alcohol and do not indulge in social events but keep my close friends dearly as I value the relationship.

As I prepare to nominate on Tuesday 25 April 2017 in Madang I decided to post this to my dear FB and few critics who from time to time throw mud at me be given the benefit by highlighting some of my feats and achievements as it is only fair on my side.
