MEDIA STATEMENT The Member for Kandep Hon. Don Pomb Polye at 3.45pm today voluntarily surrendered himself to the National Fraud & Anti Corruption Office at Konedobu, National Capital District to be interviewed over the illegal payment of K71 million to Paul Paraka Lawyers. Present to receive him for the record of interview were Assistant Commissioner Crimes Thomas Eluh and Director National Fraud & Anti Corruption Chief Superintendent Mathew Damaru. The interview was suspended at 5pm to Monday June 23 to allow Mr Polye time to arrange a lawyer for himself. In other developments Police are now searching for Abau MP and Justice and Attorney Minister Ano Pala for two counts of contempt and perverting the cause of justice. “We believe Mr Pala’s instruction to disengage our police lawyer and engage the services of Paul Mawa lawyers who agreed to consent to the Prime Minister’s application to restrain police from arresting the Prime Minister is an obstruction of justice,” ACP

A personal perspective on latest political developments from a man in forced 'expatriate exile' who knows Peter O'Neill well

Image
By MARK DAVIS Despite all the anger, and the fear and anxiety that is being expressed on social media, on the street, everywhere that Papua New Guineans are gathering, I believe there is room for quiet confidence that the days of the most corrupt Prime Minister in the nation's history are numbered. Watching and listening from my expatriate exile in Australia, it seems to me there are a number of factors at play that point to the Prime Minister's demise. The first is that it is clear that the police and the judiciary are doing their job (with a few minor hiccups caused by the Prime Minister in an attempt to pervert the course of justice). I sense a deep anger in the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary at the way the Prime Minister has tried to use them, and an equally strong commitment to see that the law takes its course through the exercise of their constitutional duties. The last-minute appointment of a new police commissioner has added fuel to the fire. Some polic

THE FUTURE: PNG UNDER PETER O'NEILL POST JUNE 2014.

Image
By Reginald Haureva. (Kokoda). PETER O'NEILL'S BUSINESS INTEREST AND FRAUD IS EXPOSED  PNG has entered a new phase in politics and public administration under Peter O'Neill as Prime Minister post-June 2014. The nation and individuals may or may not realize this fact but that is exactly where we are at. The recent changes in public administration and Ministerial reshuffles signal this change. It began with the sacking of William Duma as Petroleum Minister and Don Polye as Treasurer. Both these men stood in the way of Peter O'Neill achieving his secret ambition, to become the first multi-billionaire in PNG and the Pacific. He has never been content with the Tens of Millions of Kina kick-backs he was receiving from major road and civil construction contractors. He was not content with directing government business to his Remington Group of companies, which includes the following businesses- Remington Office Supplies, RIFL ( Merchant Bank/Finance company), Insurance

Prime Minister Peter O'Neill in Contempt of Court

Image
By PNGBLOGS Contributor Network On behalf of concerned citizens of this great nation, our collective views for the current stand-off between the Prime Minister Peter O’Neill, his executive government, and the Royal PNG Constabulary leadership are these: 1. The "consent" order to stay the warrant of arrest by acting Police Commissioner for the Prime Minister Peter O’Neill does not have merit. The police leadership in PNG did not consent with the "stay orders." Mr. Jeffery Vaki has been out of the police force for many years battling his dismissal case in the court of law. The executive government's last minute appointee’s decision to “consent” is a clear obstruction of justice, i.e., the normal process and police work for an alleged crime, hence, contempt of court. 2. The order issued by former Police Commissioner Tom Kulunga to arrest PM Peter O’Neill remains in force and intent. The Police Leadership (rank and file) and its Fraud Squad Officers will not

Changed Person Speaking Change will effect change in PNG

Image
By Komson Kome Change means one has to instil in himself/herself the priceless attributes of respect, honesty, love, obedience, acumen, genuine generosity (Giving to people in need without any strings attached) and humbleness.  The unchanged will obviously  value himself/herself more than others  and his/her life will be riddled with  deceitfulness, disrespect,  jealousy, hate, enviousness, narrow-minded and love for money (root of all evils) to name a few. This is true with many people in the top echelon of both Private and Public organisations to the people from the grass roots level. Their words of change directed to people would dissipate into thin air and never materialize because there is no substance (Power) in their words. The contrary is true as the words of change from a changed person emanates from the bottom of his/her heart and there is power in it to effect change. Many people are being kept in oblivion of the essence of commanding change with a changed heart.     Cha

Release Paul Tiensten from Bomana Now

Image
By LUCAS KIAP Paul Tiensten can now argue his sentence in court. Of course the PM Peter O’Neil and his cabinet seem to be telling the people of PNG and the world that Paula Tiensten was wrongly accused and convicted because Task Force Sweep was being systematically corrupted, heavily compromised and politicised. Peter O’Neill and his government have created Task Force Sweep to fight against corruption. Now Peter O’Neill and his cabinet have disbanded Task Force Sweep because the PM is implicated by the Task Force Sweep with new evidences in the alleged fraudulent payment of K71.8 million to Paul Paraka Lawyers. The PM and his cabinet ministers are accusing Task Force Sweep of being systematically corrupted, heavily compromised and politicised. The people of PNG must now come to realise that the actions of this government of O’Neill-Dion are becoming a grave concern and a serious threat to the very survival of this country because they seem to want a certain outcome of every

By M Korua Never for a moment think that the devil doesn’t come in disguise, offering attractive lollies to join his side.  Never believe that he can’t find supporters to cry his pretend name with reverence.  Don’t think he can’t easily sway people with material temptations.   That is the devil’s power.  But anyone who possesses a soul and blocks their minds to the devils superficial propaganda and temptations will see the truth.  The reason why the devil rules PNG today in one form or another is due to continued public ignorance and the inability to resist superficial temptation.  Peter O’Neill is the master of offering devilish lollies.  He offers FREE HEALTH CARE in thousands of rural aid posts containing either no medicine or counterfeit drugs to treat the dying.  He offers FREE EDUCATION to all young people in overflowing classrooms with no books or other resource materials, and sometimes no teachers.   The devil’s FREE HEALTH and FREE EDUCATION programme has become an obscenity

Its time for Papua New Guineans to call an ace an ace and a spade a spade!

Image
By VERGIL NARAKOBI The call for the resignation by the Prime Minister is a political question, not so much a legal question. The Prime Minister, like any body who goes through the criminal justice system is innocent until proven guilty. Here are some matters the Prime Minister should consider when making that decision. Kua was Somare's lawyer in the misconduct allegations against Somare. They went through the judicial process to challenge the OC. They failed. But they fronted up at the Leadership Tribunal, went through the process, found guilty by the Tribunal, paid the fine and life goes on. Skate resigned as Prime Minister paving the way for Sir Mekere to come in an atmosphere of serious allegations leveled against him. Julius Chan resigned when public opinion against him was overwhelming in the Sandline Affair. We hold public office as custodians for the people. If they are wrong in their convictions, they stand to suffer. That is the nature of our democracy. We have nothing t

GET OUT THERE AND SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR PM

Image
By PNC People's National Congress Media Unit Yesterday and today have seen unprecedented support being shown by the people of Papua New Guinea for the Prime Minister Hon. Peter O'Neill. The Court House has seen thousands of supporters rallying to show there on-going support for this amazing Prime Minister. This Prime Minister has delivered real results for the country and all of the people in PNG. While some of the Social Media channels would like everyone to believe that our Prime Minister has no support, today has been a clear example of the real support that he does have in the country. The support is coming from across PNG, with people rallying behind the Prime Minister to show there commitment to him and the Government. The people of PNG are commenting that they don't want to loose this Prime Minister that has done so much for the country. People are also commenting that people would have to be blind not to see the changes right across the country. We encourage

People of PNG, Now is the time to take peaceful action

Image
By Activist Without Ego   Various people on the social media over the years have pointed back to what was PNG’s finest hour ever.  That one bright time in PNG’s history came at the end of the Sandline Scandal, when the corrupt PM Julius Chan paid K100 million to bring an army of foreign white mercenaries, fully armed,  to start slaughtering Bougainvilleans so that Chan could have his way and get the Panguna mine reopened and churning revnues into the national treasury.   It was all about money.    Just like today, there was an organised movement against Sandline which had its own leaders.  Those leaders played a positive role in some respects.   However just like what we see today, those leaders also happened to be hypocrites in their own right.  For example the arms buying bribe-taking General Jerry Singirok is replaced today by the SABL land grabbing Beldon Namah as pretend leaders for truth and justice.  Nothing has changed in that respect.   In 1996 the people of PN

Breaking NEWS! PM WINS COURT BATTLE AS HIS NEW POLICE COMMISSIONER "CONSENTS" By:Cedric Patjole PNGLOOP The Prime Minister has won a victory in court as the new Police Commissioner tells court the Royal PNG Constabulary consents to the PM request for a stay on the arrest warrants. Judge Ere Kariko ruled at 11am that he accepted the change of lawyers to represent the Police Force in the matter. Then, the new Police Commissioner Geoffrey Vaki informed the court that he consented on behalf of the force to the Prime Minister’s request for a stay on the arrest warrants that were issued for Mr O’Neill last Thursday. This means that fraud squad detectives who had formally asked the Prime Minister to present for an interview on questions to do with payments to Paraka Lawyers, will no longer be able to enforce the warrants and arrest Mr O’Neill. PETER O'NEILL DISBANDS TASK FORCE SWEEP

Image
News is surfacing through political informants that the PM has directed AG and NEC to disband Task Force Sweep standing down Sam Koim. This would prevent the TFS Chairman from further investigations into corruption against Members of Parliament. The Investigation Task Force Sweep was established August 2011 by NEC. The initiative was spearheaded by Prime Minister Peter O’Neill as part of his well-publicised his anti-corruption campaign. The mandate of Task Force Sweep was initially to investigate allegations of corruption and mismanagement in the Department of National Planning and Monitoring, but the scope was expanded to include investigating allegations of corruption in a number of other government departments and their officials. Task Force Sweep is chaired by Sam Koim, the Principal Legal Officer at the Department of Justice and Attorney-General. The investigations are led by the Police Department’s Fraud and Anti-Corruption Unit and Finance Intelligence Uni

The desperate circus leader with his sideshow clowns. Prime Minister Peter O’Neill maintained his innocence in the fraudulent payment of millions of public funds to Paraka Lawyers and deplored the manner in which a warrant of arrest was issued to arrest him. He has directed the establishment of a Commission of Inquiry to be headed by Justice Warwick Andrews. He believes his arrest is politically motivated and is a result of the changes he made in government when he removed certain government ministers. Prime Minister Peter O’Neill hosted a media conference today, backed by all PNC cabinet members and ministers and other coalition partners, including Deputy Prime Minister Leo Dion, as a show of solidarity. He again denied signing the letter authorising the payment of millions of kina to Paul Paraka, and said that claims that his arrest were based on new evidence were all done by people with vested interests. He says organizations and government departments involved

Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Peter O’Neill pursued by Australian investigators and judge

Image
AUSTRALIAN private investigators and an Aussie judge are playing key roles in a corruption scandal that threatens to topple Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Peter O’Neill, it has emerged.   A warrant for Mr O’Neill’s arrest was obtained on Monday by fraud investigators who want to grill the prime minister over allegations he siphoned millions of dollars of public cash to a law firm. Mr O’Neill strongly denies any wrongdoing and obtained a court order putting the warrant on ice. The key evidence in the case — which has gripped PNG for months — is a letter that Mr O’Neill allegedly signed authorising $31 million be paid to prominent law firm, Paul Paraka lawyers. The prime minister has dismissed the note as a fake. But Taskforce Sweep boss Sam Koim revealed on Tuesday that Sydney-based private investigators believe the document is genuine. “We have now received the forensic examination report from the Sydney-based Forensic Document Services Pty Ltd confirming that the signat
