Reason behind O'Neill's wet pants moment running to Supreme Court to stop VONC

Image
by HELASON OPENE You know why Mr Panic O'Neill ran over to Supreme Court to stop VONC? Here is the real reason... Supreme Court interpretation of Sections 19 of the Organic Law on Integrity of Political Parties and Candidates was made by the former Chief Sir Salamo Injia in 2011 and 2016. It was ruled, some parts of this section of the constitution unconstitutional (removed). No longer applicable; 1) Part of the law (Section 19) that states, all PM candidates must be leaders of their political parties and must have the highest number of its candidates winning in elections. Only parties with the highest number will be allowed by the Governor General to form a government. #RULLING: Supreme Court ruling made this part of the law unconstitutional (removed). That means any MP can be a PM candidate regardless as long as he/she can master the number on the floor of Parliament. 2) Part of the law (Section 19) that states, MPs who have voted for a PM in the formation of the new g

Minister appoints crony as UPNG Chancellor to steal UPNG Land

Image
by MARK TUPAI A little boy who happens to have gotten lucky by spivying Leo Hannet of the airport land to build his property estate is now the Chancellor of PNG's premier University. Kennedy was appointed by the Minister for Higher Education as Chancellor of UPNG. Don't we have other statesman with credibility to be better candidates for this job? This is suppose to be PNG's Premier University. The appointment of Jeff Kennedy is a joke. Aside from that. It's a conflict of interest case. Apparently the Minister is still a director of Jema lawyers. Jema lawyers is owned by Jeff Kennedy MacRonad Nalle. The appointment of Jeffery Kennedy is therefore very fishy and at best a setup by the Minister to squander all University funds and resources, take over all project works and more so to steal all unused University land to extend their real estate business. Obviously its a shakeup for the worst, as reported on paper today, instead of good because this appointment has

IS BASIL QUALIFIED TO SPEAK FOR PANGU PATI IN DECLARING LOYALTY TO O'NEILL?

Image
by VINCENT MOSES It is very interesting to see Sam Basil and his deputy William Samb come out publicly to declare their loyalty and the loyalty of Pangu Pati to Peter O'Neill and his government. The question Pangu Pati supporters need to ask is this? Is Sam Basil speaking for Pangu Pati and its MPs or is he speaking for himself? A letter uploaded on Facebook not long ago shows that Sam Basil was removed as a member of Pangu Pati by the Morobe Branch of the party. Party President Patrick Pundao then wrote to deputy Parliamentary leader William Samb demanding him to convene a meeting to elect a new Parliamentary leader of the party. Another letter uploaded at the same time was the appeal by Sam Basil against the decision to terminate him and expel him as a member of Morobe Branch of Pangu Pati. So Sam Basil has confirmed and acknowledged his sacking and expulsion from Pangu Pati. Why then is he still speaking on behalf of the party if he is no longer a member of the party,

GOLD IS STOLEN ON A MASSIVE SCALE IN PNG

Image
by Sam Jay Kaupa There is a question that people need to ask. Why can’t the Central Bank of PNG buy gold to curb smuggling and also build the reserves to stabilise the plummeting Kina? The mining sector accounts for about 9% of the GDP and the overall resources sector contributes about 26% of the GDP. This will continue to rise with the current demand for cobalt which as a by-product of the mix hydroxide precipitate from the Ramu Nickel. Copper is on the rebound with nickel and so is gold which is now hovering above $US1,300/oz. Gold price will continue to go up according to analysts and from graphical representations from Kitco (where I get most of my data from) Currently, gold is stolen on a massive scale in PNG Mines. Gold production from mines is under-reported. This is a massive scam. For example – 20 million ounces were mined from the giant Porgera Gold Mine and bullions shipped off-shore by helicopter to Mt Hagen and by private jet to Perth almost every few days over

DAVIS -vs- LUPARI: WHO ANSWERS TO WHO?

Image
by BRYAN KRAMER In recent weeks the media has been reporting on an ongoing dispute between Attorney General (Minister for Justice) Steven Davis and Chief Secretary Issac Lupari. The issue in dispute was Davis's decision to sack Acting Solicitor General Faith Keene Barton for negligence of duty (lack of duty of care). Following the decision it is alleged Issac Lupari, who is closely associated to Barton tried to intervene by directing the Government Printing Office not to gazette Davis's decision giving effect to her termination. Davis responded: “I have cleared this position with the Prime Minister and so I see no reason why public servants should be interfering with due processes, especially a process that is justified in the circumstances where State legal services are under some degree of negligence." “If they don’t allow the gazettal I will go to court to get the court order. If I take court action it will compel the Government Printing Office to print b

ACT OR FOREVER HOLD YOUR PEACE AND DIE SLOWLY

by JAMES MAKOP I have written so many times about the dangers of inaction. My urgings have attracted many ridicule and insults. When I warned that Peter O’Neill threatened the very democracy of the Nation, people took no notice. When I warned that the country would be brought to economic ruin, no one took it seriously. What people fail to see are these facts. 1. PNG is now a Failed State. That is evident in the fake budget paper, public servants such as Isaac Lupari giving directions contrary to the Attorney General, a person elected by his people to represent them as a politician, arbitrarily borrowing to shore up ongoing expenditures, and forcing SOEs such as Kumul Holdings to borrow money so as to pay dividends to the government. 2. No one cares for you. The multi-national companies are having a field day. This is the kind of environment they thrive in. No rule of law, no questions asked, no oversight. Just pay the politicians to gain access, pay corrupt officials to t

FULL BLOODED MELANESIAN POLITICIANS OF PNG CAN DECIDE THE FUTURE OF PNG

Image
by GALEVA MUNIA We now know what we never knew about the people we vote in as our leaders to represent us in Parliament. This is mainly due to social media because our leaders cannot  hide anymore. Things are reported as it happens especially about our politicians. Both on the Government side n the Opposition, the only vocal politicians n those who are contributing meaningful discussions on issues appear to be the mixed races. At least they know what to say and when to say compared to our full blooded Melanesian politicians. Many can't say anything and when some do say something, they spit out mere rubbish leaving us wondering why we even vote them in the first place. Many of these so called full blooded Melanesian leaders just rock up for Parliament sessions  with their eyed firmly  fixed on the sitting allowances n nothing more. They do not contribute meaningfully on any issues affecting the country including  CORRUPTION. Look at how many full blooded PNG politicians
