Unitech Saga: Not ONE thing government has said has yet been correct.
By P ENGEE
The latest backtracking of OHE is on the State of Emergency, an idiotic idea to begin with considering that Unitech shows no signs of unrest, only the strongest and largest scale student determination seen in years in PNG.
Just before that the government backtracked on cancelling the school year but only after it backtracked on removing student scholarships. It is apparent that all these OHE threats were said out of ignorance or strategic stupidity. The result to OHE is that no one believes them any more.
Delilah Gore, who seems just about as prepared to be the Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Technology as a random betelnut seller, has run away from "I'm going to solve the Unitech crisis" and instead has sent the hapless David Kavanamur to Lae to...... to...... to do what? Negotiate!
The problem is, the students are as sick of the lies of OHE as they are of the lies of Unitech's John Pumwa and other senior executive management. That's why they're not negotiating with anyone. They are as clear as any thinking person at this point that Peter O'Neill simply does not like competent nationals or expats who don't bow down to him, or who he might consider later to be a threat. He considers VC Schram to be a potential threat and OHE is tasked not with higher education, but with doing Peter's bidding to try and tarnish the VC's reputation.
And so we now have OHE trying another tactic, thinking that we've forgotten that they've been caught red-handed with all their other tricks. Now they're saying that VC Schram has problems with his qualifications, or that the Sevua report doesn't completely clear him (better tell that to the Unitech Council and many others who have read the Sevua report and say the VC IS cleared of any wrongdoing). Sorry, OHE, there is an easy reply for all your futile attempts to find an argument that works: release the Sevua report so we can see! We're getting tired of OHE and Peter O'Neill sounding like one and the same voice, full of silly arguments.
What the Office of Higher Education (and generally the HERST ministry) has managed to show the world is that their top management, at least, is as incompetent as the utterly useless David Arore. Not only can they not tell the truth, they can't even tell a convincing lie. To say that Kavanamur got a bad reception at the Unitech rally yesterday would be an understatement. The silly fellow started by saying he had no power to deal with the Saga....... So........ so.......... WHY WAS HE THERE?
What is supposedly the most educated and intellectual ministry in the country has become the HERST ship of fools, the funniest entertainment to hit PNG since a drunken former PM Bisket slipped and fell on the floor as he danced to the beat at a Port Moresby disco in the late
1990's.
Onlookers were as amused then as the nation is becoming now to the latest uh uh uh uh antics of Gore and Kavanamur. So go the lies of our "respected" Office of Higher Education. We haven't even touched upon Peter O'Neill, the biggest lying sonovabitch in all Papua New Guinea. Bang bang, Peter says! I'm the boss around here and whatever I say goes. Oh my, oh my, oh my!
