Prime Sinister and Grandest Thief Paul Paraka Continue Strategy of Judicial Delay and Postponement.

Image
By NATHAN MARABE The strategy worked for our Prime Sinister back in 2001.  He hopes to get off on the current criminal and leadership charges by using the simple but effective DDD strategy:    Delay, delay, delay.    The value of delay is clear with any case put forth by the ombudsman.   O’Steal liked what he saw in the case of Arthur Somare, who delayed his Leadership Tribunal literally for years.   The Prime Sinister plans to so the same if it appears likely that he’ll be found guilty.  The strategy is actually a 2 step one.  First, cause DDD to the Tribunal, moving the process as close to 2017 election as possible.   Second step is to resign just before the Leadership Tribunal gives their decision, if it looks like the Tribunal will find him guilty.  Once he resigns the Leadership Tribunal must close down, it cannot give a verdict.  That leaves Peter O’Steal free to campaign for the next election, telling the people of Pangia that he has big political enemies in PNG who hate

PNGSDP not drawing down on Long Term Fund

Image
PRESS STATEMENT The chairman of PNG Sustainable Development Program Ltd, Sir Mekere Morauta, said today that allegations by the Prime Minister that the company was drawing down on the Long Term Fund were false. “There is today slightly more than $US1.3 billion in the Long Term Fund,” he said. “That amount will be available to future generations of the people of Western Province. “The Long Term Fund, which is invested around the world in low-risk investments, is safe and secure. It was set up so that the people of Western Province would have a source of sustainable development funding for future generations, and that is the way it will stay.” The investments in the Long Term Fund generate returns, which are providing income to PNGSDP to pay for its operational expenses. This is expressly permitted under rule 9.3(a) of the company's Program Rules. “Using the income is different from using the capital of the Long Term Fund,” Sir Mekere said. “PNGSDP has never withdrawn capital

Esa’ala in a Mess! Steven Davis' multiple role as MP, LLG President and Councillor ruining electorate

Image
By ESA'ALA ADVOCATE In July of 2012 when Davis Steven was elected as Member for Esa’ala Open, the people were relieved that Hon. Moses Maladina’s reign had come to an end because nothing much was achieved during his 10 year reign as MP. But the feeling of relief and optimism soon disappeared as Davies started stamping his authority as MP. In his first JDP&BPC meeting as Chairman, the MP sent out a message of what is to follow in the next five years by allocating K500, 000.00 from the DSIP funds to a member of his inner circle for the completion of a boat, M.V. Hideaway II. It was a message to the people of Esa’ala by the MP that he will only support those that supported him in the election The MP also appointed “political coordinators” of wards and zones when he clearly campaigned against it during the elections. These so called coordinators have become more powerful than ward councillors who are mandated leaders by the people. All development agendas are channelled thr

RACISM RIFE IN BMOBILE-VODAFONE VENTURE

Image
By PNGBLOGS CONTRIBUTOR NETWORK Bmobile Limited under the management of Sundar Ramamurthy since mid-last year has had no constructive plans, since he was employed, towards the company and is further accused of continuous threats levelled at national staff. His approach of continuous negative attacks on the staff as “bunch of thieves and liars” has had a huge impact on the moral of the national staff. Latest name calling and branding of the national staff “as the lowest of the lowest” by Sundar Ramamurthy‘s Group Security & Facilities Manager David Pidik has now stirred up the racist and discrimination felt by national staff. How can anyone perform to their best of their ability when constantly reminded they’re “useless bunch of Papua New Guineans” and due to that most experience staff had resigned to find alternative avenues? Bmobile Limited is a small SOE company with the workforce of less than 100 staff in total inclusive of expats/consultants with a Group CEO and two CEO’S

Who is Puma Energy International (Singapore)?

Image
By Anna Gerato Suckling The 3 main shareholders have monopoly over Angola’s natural resources & have effectively sealed Angola’s Presidents dictatorship power. Its old news that Puma Energy International bought out Inter Oil’s Napa Napa refinery for USD526 million in July this year but just who are they and why could the purchase be a strategic move? It is a fact that within 2 years of Puma Energy entering Angola the main partners of this company gained monopoly over all of Angola’s overseas oil sales & local distribution of fuel. Privately held company Puma Energy (Singapore) is owned by the following corporations 1. Trafigura 2.Sonangol Holding LDA & 3.Cochan Holdings. 15% of the Swiss corporation Trafigura is owned by the infamously named “General Dino”. General Dino is one of the three ‘main’ partners that the president of Angola uses as his covers ups for his corrupt business dealings in Angola. Marc Gueniat a senior NGO researcher quotes &quo

Political parties and members welcome to the Opposition

Image
By SAM BASIL MP Deputy Opposition Leader and Pangu Pati Leader, Sam Basil said the role of political parties and the Opposition in development of political culture and practice of Westminster principles in PNG, good governance and leadership needs more work and that can be done by Members of Parliament. He said the THE Party and its Members are welcome to join the Opposition and challenged other Members and political parties who do not support the policies and management of PNC led Government to decide which side they are on and what achievements and policies they will sell to the people during the National Elections. The Pangu Pati Leader said the Opposition is a creation of the Constitution and laws like the Organic Law on Integrity of Political Parties and Candidates (OLIPPAC), Prime Ministers Act, Parliamentary Standing Orders and other laws to ensure the sovereignty of the Independent State of PNG is intact and to make laws and to ensure governance and systems including over

Nation likely to plung into inflation if O'Niell the "bush economist" keeps with his myrad of ill advised spending

Image
By MARK DAVIS The economic crisis caused by the Prime Minister's mismanagement of the nation's finances may be about to get much worse The Government is facing a payout of up to $US300 million in a legal dispute over the disastrous IPIC bond issue used to finance PNG's participation in the LNG Project. The case, brought by IPIC against the Government represented by the Independent Public Business Corporation, begins tomorrow in the Equity Division of the Supreme Court of New South Wales. A decision is likely within a month IPIC is seeking a payment of $US300 million (K700m plus at today’s rates) from PNG as part of the settlement of the IPIC bond issue. IPIC had the right to convert the bond into Oil Search shares, which it did. It also had the right to a cash component under the terms of the bond issue. The Supreme Court case is over the amount that is owed to IPIC, which is claiming $US300 million. It will blow yet another mighty hole in the Bu

Papua New Guinea, how far have we come?

SYLVESTER KOMBA EXPOSING CORRUPTION IN MENDI, SHP   By SYLVESTER KOMBA PAPUA NEW GUINE HAS REACHED ANOTHER YEAR OF INDEPENDENCE AND WILL BE TURNING 39 YEARS ON 16th SEPTEMBER, 2014. Times like this it calls for our people to take stock of how far we have come from Tanget and Malo Age to colonial era, self governing and Independence on 16th September, 1975. Going back to history, during pre-independence and self governing years when most of the bureaucracy was in the hands of the Australian Patrol officers and Kiaps, the focuss was on 'order and stability' for the society, After independence and nationalisation of bureaucracy we have moved away from order and stability and the end of luluai and tultula or anwa police we were focussing into the development of PNG believing that in doing so order and stability in the society will be achieved. I can not be a more worrisome person seen many school dropout, certificate and degree holders without job while provincial, nationa

HOW SAM BASIL WON WITH AN ABSOLUTE MAJORITY IN 2012

Image
By SCOTT WAIDE What is the definition of service delivery?   Is it  the secret  and public  cash handouts to key members of a community, LLG presidents  so that political support is maintained?    Is it a road?   The “donation” of vehicles bought using government money?   Or a large investment project owned by a foreign  company where  “dozens of jobs are provided,” many of them smack bang on the minimum wage level? Service delivery, in my view, must empower people to make independent decisions both in their own lives and in political choices  that affect their lives. More importantly, they must be given the ability to make their own money so that they are not prone to  the temptation of political handouts. They must be given the opportunities  for intellectual development  so that opinions are freely expressed without fear or favor. But this is, precisely, what frightens politicians.   An educated, free thinking population, with independent incomes and the ability to choose  the

Papua New Guineans should not panic but take this time to reflect and come together as a country

Image
By DAVID EPHRAIM  Source: POST COURIER Papua New Guineans should not panic but take this time to reflect and come together as a country to address many issues affecting our country at the moment. The report by Post Courier is long over due, however one wonders why it took so long for Australian sources to provide the information to Post Courier to be published. Post Courier will deny my claims outright but if you assess the information provided by Post Courier; it clearly shows that information came from an Australian source who might use another 'cut out' - third party individuals who feed (intel) information to intelligence officers - to provide these information(s) to Post Courier. Whatever the intentions are; firstly let's observe global events/important geopolitical developments within our region. Let's calculate political and security climate within the region. Why now after 10 years? Is it because they could not link up the suspects or i

A stupid MP

Image
Why is SkyCo Systems CEO Joe Kile & Lae MP Loujaya Kouza continuosly boasting about their money consuming failed project - Biometric? More than K5million people's money (DSIP Funds) have been diverted into this so-called pilot project. Yet, both failed to explain the simple question on how biometric will bring tangible services into the 23 wards of Lae City and Ahi. The CEO is the MP's Pastor back in Port Moresby. That's where the bridge is, between Joe and Loujaya. In other words, people's money has been diverted to suit their personal interest. Police had halted and consficated BID team equipment at Bumbu yesterday. There remains the uncertainty on the legal validity or this project. Until there is clarification on the dos and don'ts for this project by law (Act), people can sue now for spying and causing of insecurity to.their privacy. Upon what relevant Act should One give consent to be interviewed etc without feelings of doubts and inse

SCHOOL FIGHTS: A WOUND LEFT UNATTENTED FESTERS AND KILLS

Image
By SCOTT WAIDE* Last Sunday, another  teenager, a student at Bumayong Secondary school  died  at Lae’s Angau hospital   from severe knife wounds he sustained in  another  unnecessary  clash  between students. The foolishness of   students who succumb to peer pressure  is inexcusable. But  the ignorance of parents and  education authorities  of the  root causes behind the ongoing school fights is unforgivable. Three months ago, education authorities  along with stakeholders in the Lae community   met to discuss possible solutions  to the school fights.   I attended  as an observer of the proceedings. I could not take the jeers  and  sarcasm  displayed by older  members in the meeting who downplayed the organizational structures of the school based groups  responsible for the  violence. I felt the need to stand up in the crowd, uninvited,  and vent on  the unsuspecting senior members  attending the meeting. Why do you  joke about student  organizational structures that have  become

TRIBUTE TO ANOTHER GREAT JUDGE OF THE HIGH COURTS OF PNG

TRIBUTE TO ANOTHER GREAT JUDGE OF THE HIGH COURTS OF PNG. Another sad day for PNG, it just lost today another High Court Judge; late justice Mark Sevua, in his native home village, and province today Tuesday (2/8/14). Arrangements are being made to accord the late Judge the dignity and respect he well deserved as the most senior judge of the National and Supreme Courts of the Independent State of Papua New Guinea. Judge Sevua's last press release to PNGBlogs is here. It was the convoy of vehicles down Lorengau town in Manus that got the attention of locals. As it headed straight for the hospital, passersby became curious so some followed.Right now that island province is in shock after learning of the sudden passing of one of the most senior and respected sons, Justice Mark Sevua.Shocked relatives have started arriving at the home of a relative where his body now lays while word spreads to his loved ones, colleagues and friends.JusticeSevu a and his wife arrived at

PNG’s Peter O’Neill under fire over mine court case comments

Image
Former Papua New Guinea prime minister Mekere Morauta has accused incumbent leader Peter O’Neill of misrepresenting a Singapore court case where a $1.4 billion development fund created by BHP Billiton is at stake. Sir Mekere said the PNG government had substantially lost a court action last week that Mr O’Neill had claimed as a success in his campaign to win control of the PNG Sustainable Development Program fund. “The numerous untruths contained in the Prime Minister’s statement have been drawn to the attention of the court by PNGSDP,” Sir Mekere said. He said it was “puzzling to say the least that the PM ‘welcomes’ the Singapore court’s ruling in this regard, when the state has lost its application before the judge and is seeking to overturn the decision on appeal”. Last December the PNG government nationalised the majority stake in the Ok Tedi copper mine, which BHP had bequeathed to the PNFSDP when it exited the mine a decade ago after environmental disputes. Mr O’Neill

Isaac Lupari has no legacy

Image
By Wabag Observer I have been reading some of the comments made by Isaac Lupari in his capacity as Chief of Staff in his attempt in pleasing his boss, Prime Minister Peter O’Neill. In my view Lupari is making a fool of himself as he is not playing his game according to set protocols. In other words, he is accusing politicians on important national issues which are not appropriate. He should leave politics to the politicians to deal with issues of national importance. He is only a support staff and he has no legal basis to accuse senior politicians. When Mr Lupari was appointed heads of several government departments on acting basis, he has not been able to keep his appointments for more than six months. For example Lupari was Acting Secretary for Finance & Treasury for six months, he was appointed Acting Secretary for Defence for three months, he was Acting Secretary for Works for two months, he was Acting Secretary for Public Services for another two months, he was appointed P

An assessment on Governor Agiru's performance

Image
By PETER MAI Ever since Agiru taking the office as Governor of SHP in 1997, he had barely done anything. The only visible infrastructure that would be seen in Mendi town is the ill planned and poorly structured cob web filled seven story Agiru Center. Three quarter of the whole building is unoccupied, filled with filth and dirt. I wonder how much he (Agiru) has spent on that building the tax payers money. The huge amount of millions of kina that was spent unnecessarily and lavishly on that wasted and unoccupied building should have been put into good use in areas such as upgrading of schools, health centers and infrastructure development such as the sealing of Mendi Tari road. Sadly all these have never been done by the fantastic fantasy governor – Anderson Agiru. All the schools, Health Services and roads in Hela and Southern Highlands all have devastated from bad to worse. Where has the huge cash flow from the LNG gone to?? Why are basic government services break

O'Neill denies conflict of interest

KANDEP MP Don Polye has taken Prime Minister Peter O’Neill to task over his alleged ownership of several companies and the purported awarding of contracts to the latter by the Ok Tedi Mine. In questions directed to the Prime Minister in Parliament recently, the Kandep MP said several major contracts have been awarded since the Government expropriated the mine last year and the PM should advise if he or his associates had any interests in the firms. "I understand that since the State took control over OK Tedi mine as a state owned entity, several major contracts and construction, security and charter services have been awarded or in the stages of being awarded. Some of the awarded contracts include Black Swan International, Wild Cat Developments, South West Air and Remington. Prime Minister, can you honestly tell the nation whether you and through your associates hold any interest in these companies as they have been engaged by OTML?" he said. How

Government statements false

Image
By SIR MEKERE MORAUTA The chairman of PNG Sustainable Development Program Ltd, Sir Mekere Morauta, said today that com ments by the Prime Minister in relation to the recent decision of the Supreme Court of Singapore were a gross misrepresentation of the orders made in the case. The numerous untruths contained in the Prime Minister’s statement have been drawn to the attention of the court by PNGSDP. First, it should be highlighted that the State had made an application to the court for the following orders against PNGSDP: An injunction over PNGSDP's assets The appointment of a Receiver and Manager over PNGSDP's affairs and An account of all dealings in PNGSDP's assets. In fact on 25 August the judge dismissed the State's application for all these orders as she found that the State's allegations of dissipation of assets were unsupported. In other words, the State has lost its application. That is why the State is appealing against the judge'

NEVER EVER GIVE UP

Image
Uni-tech activist students have been reading about whats gone on at UPNG the past months.  Sad to see that the UPNG student protest against government corruption was destroyed by intimidation and sellout. We faced similar problems during uni-tech saga and won only because of stubborness. Most of us believed we were doing the right thing for God and country so we should not give up under any circumstances. As writer Maya Angelo once said:  “You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it.”  That’s good advice for UPNG students who believe in using student power to speak out for justice and honesty in our country.  Find new ways to keep fighting for what you believe in no matter how many Bobby Yupi obstacles are thrown your way. During early Uni-tech saga we had our own Bobby Yupi by the name of 2013 SRC President Livingstone Hosea.

BREAKING NEWS: PARKOP MEETS KALUWIN SECRETLY ON PM'S REFERRAL

Image
It's been 2 weeks since Ombudsman Commission referred PM O'Neill to the Public Prosecutor Pondros KALUWIN. Mr KALUWIN is believed to be still considering the referral. When Police Obtained arrest warrant against Mr O'Neill concerning Parakagate and resulted in an impasse,  Mr Powes Parkop, Governor for NCD went and spoke to Mr KALUWIN on the possibility of having the police file referred to him to review before arresting PM. Mr Parkop himself stated that on his wall on Facebook and was circulated in the social media. Mr Parkop is from Manus and Mr KALUWIN is also from Manus. Both are lawyers and of around same age.  Mr Parkop is the biggest benefactor of the Chinese K6billion loan under O'Neill and would stand to loose a lot if something happens to O'Neill. He has been fervently defending O'Neill even to the point of offending his legal brain and principles.  Because of all these, there was a real likelihood that Parkop would go and see KAL
