ITS PERSONAL POLITICS AGAINST NATIONAL INTEREST

Image
by FRAZIER LIU  I really do feel for PMJM. He is caught in the crossfire. Allowing certain politicians to take limelight in this Government gave PO and BN the avenue to exploit existing politics at provincial levels.  You may have opinions and preferences but am stating the facts. This is why there is a divide.  MOROBE Basil will feel he was undermined when Pangu leadership was wrestled from him. He will feel he was the reason for PANGU resurgence. ENGA Sir PI is powerful, that is a fact in Enga. Sometimes he undermines Open MPs and some feuds have been long-lasting.  NEW IRELAND Sir Julius will always have a beef with his two nephews LingStuckley and Snaubelt. WHP There is no love lost between Duma and Wingti MADANG Yama and Kramer EAST SEPIK Arthur Somare raising his head again signals his interest to re-enter politics. That will be an issue for Bird. Also Maru and Bird had a fallout regarding EU funds so that is fresh. NCD/CENTRAL The ongoing war between Parkop and Agarobe. Parkop i

2021 Budget is illegal with insufficient numbers

Image
by BELDEN NORMAN NAMAH The legal requirements that would have enabled the passage of the 2021 National 57—    Budget in a single day were not met, this means the attempt by James Marape to hijack Parliamentary process to try and avoid a vote of No Confidence has failed The Opposition has received independent legal advice that adds to the growing Iist of irregularities around the purported parliamentary budget session on Tuesday. 1r November 2020 This advice has confirmed that while the government still had up to 50 MPs a week ago. this was not the required minimum of 56 Members. that is required to Suspend Standing Orders and have the Second and Third Readings of the Budget Bills on the same day and then pass the Budget into law There was never at any time 56 Members on the floor of Parliament on Tuesday Mr. Namah said. 'irrespective of the current Supreme Court Application on Parliamentary sitting dates, there can be no escaping the fact that the passage of the 2021 National Budge

THE TRUE POWER BROKER

Image
by JIMMY JOE A Proper PM candidate to come from Opposition - The Original Laguna Team ( now we can classify them as Neutral Team still in the Executive Government ) When Peter O'Neil's PNC was in government, the then Opposition had bitter taste of his government and moved to oust him through the VoNC. The Opposition team was a handful MPs numbered lesser than 15. They were the Original Team Laguna. The team had the PM candidate of choice. It was not James Marape. James Marape on record, not the PM of Choice. He was and is the situational PM. And we shall well be aware that the current Marape government is run by the original Team Laguna. As I write this, they are still the power broker, wherever this team moves now will the proper and stable government form for the people of this country. The strong hold of Marape Government is therefore the Original Team Laguna. They are the spine of his government. Those who defected to the current Opposition in Vanimo will not return to the

POMAT IS RIGHT

Image
by SIMON PENTANU  (Former Parliament Clerk, Chief Ombudsman and AROB House Speaker) The Speaker Hon Job Pomat is in order on all counts: in compliance with the procedures and practices of Parliament, in compliance with standing orders of the Parliament, an even legally (if lawyers want to go to town with the law). The Speaker has taken corrective action on an erroneous ‘decision’ on the floor of the House that should not have been allowed to proceed by the Chair. The Clerk of the House is the first person that should have advised the Chair of the breach before, during and immediately after the proceedings that transpired. Proceedings of the House are non-justiciable, and particularly in instances such as what happened where the House should and is capable, and competent, to go back and take its own corrective measures of proceedings and decisions in the House. This is what the Speaker has done. It is his role to ensure the credibility, legitimacy and integrity of proceedings, rulings a

From PM aspirant to political prostitute

by CHARLES YANNI I am extremely mortified with the conduct of my elected representative in the National Parliament of Papua New Guinea. A man whom I thought would one day become a beacon of hope for my country. A man who would be decisive with every choice no matter the consequences whilst reminding himself of his great heritage and the people he represents.     I saw the birth of a great Papua New Guinean Prime Minister when the first National Partner in a world-renowned international law firm prematurely ended his career to take up the challenge to lead his people in the 2002 National Elections. He had the support of the great Jiga tribe in Western Highlands with the first endorsement from a three (3) time Prime Minister, who casted his vote for the young bloke who would turn out to be a powerful figure in the political history of this country. For over four (4) consecutive elections, my hope has never faded until the man whom I looked up to had turned himself into a Lightweight Poli

Marape is the biggest liar, betrayer & hypocrite of all time.

by BRIAN KOMBA He is the definition of a wolf in sheep's skin. He was PNC, part of PNC and served as the longest serving Finance Minister for seven (7) consecutive years in the PNC Party led government. He resigned from PNC Party and lied to this country and her people that he didn’t want to be part of a corrupt O’Neill government. However, to date he has not produced one single evidence and or laid one single complaint with Ombudsman Commission or Police National Fraud and Anti Corruption Directorate on his claims.   He was never genuine from the start. He said he only wanted to remove O’Neill and never wanted to be PM. However, in Laguna camp, he forced himself by putting his name down on VONC Motion Paper has the candidate for PM hoping that he will attract the numbers. Needless to say, he never attracted numbers and so fall short of the required majority (magic number) which is 56 MPs. Failing his bid, he then went to lure William Duma, and willfully lied to him by offering him

Pomat Hijacks Parliament

Image
by ALOIS JEREWAI   The Organic Law on the calling of Meetings of the Parliament. This relatively little known Organic Law has seemingly put a lid over the boiling pot of mass Parliamentary rebellion against the Executive Government of Prime Minister James Marape. According to the letter of the law, namely section 2(a)(i) being the relevant provision, rendered the actions in the Parliament on Friday 13th. November , invalid. Especially the adjournment to 1st. December. Section 2(a)(i) says:   "2. CALLING OF OTHER MEETINGS. (1) In relation to any meeting of the Parliament, other than the first meeting after a general election, the time and date for the meeting- (a) shall- (i) be fixed by the Parliament on motion without notice by a Minister;....." This Organic Law is authorized under section 124(2) of the Constitution, which says: "(2) An Organic Law shall make provision for the calling of meetings by the Parliament". Subsection (1) of section 124 says that "The

DID SPEAKER JOB POMAT PULL A FAST ONE?

Image
by PAUL AMATIO The tactics that were used to play Job Pomat, as the Speaker, to recall Parliament tomorrow is highly deplorable, unlawful, and explosive, hence, a Constitutional Crisis in the making. By operations of law, there are number of factors that are critical to take note, as we ponder on the events of last week Friday, where two Motions were entertained and passed by the Deputy Speaker, who was the Acting Speaker during those proceedings. The votes taken were 57:39, in favour of the Opposition, led by Vanimo-Green MP, and Opposition Leader. 1) the Opposition Leader, BN, sought the leave of parliament to move a motion. Leave was granted to him, by the Acting Speaker, upon the advice and clearance from the Parliament Clerk and with numbers backing him, BN moved to remove the MPs on the Private Business Committee, that committee that oversees the legality of a VONC on the PM. With an overwhelming support of 57:39 votes, that motion was passed and the previous PBC was dissolved th

PAPUA NEW GUINEANS MUST REMAIN VIGILANT

Image
by ALOIS JEREWAI I am so weary of the possible connection to the big move by PM JM on Porgera Mine, and this massive historically incomparable display of routing of a PNG Government since Independence. PM JM demonstrably had not performed to expectations after disposing of Peter O'Neill as PM; then went on to commit mockable decisions such as the K10.2 Million contract for "Covid-19 Cure" , an absolute absence of prosecution of public office-holders with near fool-proof evidence to prosecute but were not prosecuted, all now seem to have inflicted loss of support to continue as PM. Compared to Peter O'Neill's reign over 9 years with probably a record of bad governance that far exceeded PM JM's, it is with deep curiosity and wonders that there is now a massive " political rebellion" surpassing any in the past. The Papua New Guinean Public, while watching this rebellion span out, must remain vigilant to the unseen, out-of-sight, role of the big multinat
