KONMANTI & PNG THINK TANK NEW SNAKE OIL

Image
PNG Think Tank Group is putting together the A Team to put together the Objections Document for the K21 BILLION acquisition of Oil Search Ltd by Santos. We do not know the details of Santos plans for national content and national empowerment.  PNG Think Tank Group has appointed John Epidari to lead the team next 4 weeks to put together the objections notice to ICCC of PNG and copy to BPNG and IRC and all key Ministries to make sure PNG must get the best deal available under TAKE BACK PNG.  No resources in PNG are free for foreigners to just turn up and walk all over us. The Telstra takeover of Digicel Pacific deal must also address national content and empowerment issues as well as Westpac Bank takeover deal in PNG.  While NRI and INA and all the universities and national unions and student unions and interest groups are all silent for extended period without moving anything, PNG TTG is pushing simply for national interests through national content and empowerment.  Anyone who has stro

MARAPE & PAITA ABOUT TO SIGN AWAY PNG GOLD

Image
By: Andrew Arthur Prime Minister Hon. James Marape and his planning minister Reinbo Paita are the parties behind the theft of all Papua New Guinea’s gold for the next 100 years! They have given approval for the STATE of Papua New Guinea to sign away all gold rights to an Australian paper company in Refinery Holdings PTE LTD. First, they have done the deal with a paper company even before there is a LAW that says they have the right to do the deal. We see how the real manipulation works out. Marape and Paita now need to get the law passed by Parliament. The law is before the Parliament to set up Papua New Guinea’s first National Gold Corporation. The National Gold Corporation Bill first surfaced in 2012 but successive Government of Sir Michael Somare and Hon. Peter O’Neill, in their wisdom, had refused to pass this Bill as there have been some sinister motives and constitutional issues associated with the Bill. The new bill will allow Refinery Holdings LTD PTE to own 70% of the National

Kostas and Marape ink Loloata deal

At expense of 600,000 Nasfund members By: Andrew Arthur Nasund (National Superannuation Fund Limited) which has 600,000 public contributing members around Papua New Guinea are footing the bills for James Marape and his Pangu Pati members when they use Loloata Island Resort. Last year during the Vote of No Confidence, Pangu Pati and its coalition partners camped out in Loloata for over 3 weeks. The bills for accommodation and meals are approximately K5 million. Pangu Pati did not pay for their bills in a deal struck by Marape and proxy owner Kosta Constantinou. Loloata Island Resort was bought by Lamana Development Limited (in 2017) owned 99% by Kosta Constantinou. Lamana then sold 50% of Loloata to Nasfund for around K40m and 15% to Solomon Islands National Provident Fund (SINPF). SINPF bought the 15% for K12m in May 2018. https://www.sinpf.org.sb/.../101-sinpf-board-acquires-15... Loloata described itself as a “uniquely designed luxury boutique resort that truly engages with its natu

Crowdfunding is the con man's oldest trick

Image
by DAVID LEPI You know how the word 'Kon Man' or more proper 'con man' came into be? It's base word is confidence man. A confidence man is a man who persuades people to give him their money or property by lying to them. Some call them con artists because it is an art and is used by a person (s) with a certain skill set. Well Papua New Guinean is not new to 'konman' for we have been swindled a million times. And the reason why we fall prey so easily is because we are a gullible stock of people. Anything seemingly glittering somehow draws our attention. Just as many Papua New Guineans are starting to realize they have been tricked by professional con artists in some get rich quick scams such as pyramid schemes - U Vistract, Money Rain, Papalain etc -  a dubious project is now peddled through in what they call crowdfunding. Crowdfunding is a way to raise money from a large number of people. Large groups of people pool together small individual investments to pr

Newest Carbon Cowboy in town!

By: Waigani Observer Papua New Guinea is a country made up gullible political leaders who have sold their people’s resources for pennies and celebrated those sales as if they brought manna from heaven! https://papuanewguineanews.online/more-to-fortescue.../... This country never learns from its past histories and continues to make the same mistakes with different foreign actors dressed in shinny clothes and throws candies on children’s playing field. Remember Paul Mulder and his Coal Project that Government gave him Tax-FREE status? What happens to him now?? Havn’t seen any official Government Press Releases on that Tax-Free status. https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=1222929368172993&id=227315057734434 Have we also forgotten about the K2 Paper company in Australia that we have sold all our Gold refinery rights to for 60years term ?? https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=1258882954577634&id=227315057734434 Next up, Andrew Twiggy Forrests, the Billio

CONMAN CONTINUES TO BLINDSIDE PM

Image
by  JACK KEGALP Samson seems to be playing both sides of politics to further his own personal and political ambitions.  On the one hand, he is pushing the Marape/Basil Government to support his "crowdfunding" movement where he has been literally "begging" and even to some extent "forcing" various individuals and businesses houses to make pledges and contribute money upwards of K10,000 each towards this cause. On the other hand, he has been seen dining and getting drunk with former Prime Minister Peter O'Neill at various locations in Port Moresby. The most recent one was over the weekend at O'Neill's Crowne Plaza Hotel in downtown Port Moresby. Samson himself has his own political ambitions for the Western Highlands Regional Seat which he contested and lost to Paias Wingti in the 2017 elections, and which he is no doubt contesting again in 2022. This then begs the question of whether he is genuinely trying to do something good for Papua New Guin

ZERO AGENDA WITH A SELFIE

Image
by : David A. Lawrence I've worked in the field of International Relations for 6 years and still counting as the youngest government official on the mission in many cases and here's some key observations I'd like to share: 1. If you go with zero agenda to a conference, you will ONLY RETURN WITH A SELFIE and no meaningful interventions, recommendations to the state to take action; and no way forward or a plan to adhere to the communique of such fora. 2. We are told not to upload photos of hotel rooms, food and alcohol on our social media because the trip is covered under taxpayers money. 3. If you miss morning briefings with the government contingent, you will be annoying everyone the whole day asking questions and remain useless with little or nothing to report back at the afternoon debriefing. This means you've wasted a day's allowance on the trip with no contribution to the team. 4. Your mission starts as soon as the announcement of the meeting while in the co

THE CHEAP GIVE-AWAY LOGOHU AWARDS

Image
The recent investiture at Government House on 21st October 2021 of the awardees in the Queen's Birthday 2020 Imperial Honours included many deserving individuals who have made significant contributions to Papua New Guinea, its people, community, and the nation. This List was put together and approved by the previous Honours and Awards Council. A week later, on the 28th October 2021, Government House hosted another investiture this time for awardees in PNG's own honours system, called the Orders of Papua New Guinea, for a very late Independence Day Anniversary Honours List which was announced in the newspapers on 27th October, just one day before the investiture was to take place. Only a handful of awardees attended the 'last-minute' program which was organized in a hurry for the sake of a couple of recipients of the highest class. Embarrassingly the Grand Companion of the Order of Logohu (GCL) was awarded to a deceased person, Sir Theophilus Constantinou,

TechOne was a bad choice for IFMS

Image
by BUI WETAU IFMS as it is will always fail. This attack or malfunction is just the tip of the iceberg. Initially when IFMS (Integrated Financial Management System) was tendered as a project to integrate the three stand-alone financial operating systems in use; PBS (Planning & Budgeting System), PGAS (Provincial Government Accounting System) and the TMS (Treasury Management System), four international IT companies tendered their bid and all four were invited for a presentation for selected users of the three stand-alone systems from the Treasury Department to assess their presentation. TechOne was of the four. I happened to be one of the judges or user of the three systems making the assessment. Of the four, Oracle stood out to be the best. Although with very little IT knowledge, I was fully aware of what the Department or the Government wanted and Oracle ticked all boxes without a single doubt. PBS at that time was Oracle based so all they offered was to integrate PGAS and TMS wit
